Carly Rae Jepsen + Jay-Z + Scott Melker + Friendly Greg

All three or four of my friends kept hollering at me on Google Chat yesterday. And I'm all, "Chill dudes, I'm working." And they're like, "You don't have a job, what are you so darned busy with?" What am I busy with? First I have to go to Scottie's. Then we have to slow down the "Call Me Maybe" instrumental. And pitch adjust it. Or whatever. We have to find the perfect drums to slide under it. And the perfect "boom" to go with those drums. Etc. We have to figure out how to blend Jay-Z's "99 Problems" with all of that. Blah, blah, etc. And on and on and on. These Carly Rae Jepsen v. Jay-Z edits don't make themselves, people. This is a real job, damnit. This is hard work and it requires our undivided attention. Shoo!

Friendly Greg + Robyn + Katy Perry + Nicki Minaj + Big Sean

I mentioned that NSR and I have a Robyn mix coming out soon, right? I mentioned that I'm, like, the biggest Katy Perry fan ever, right? So, like, no duh I made a "Dancing On My Own" v. "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" mash-up! Like, way no duh!

DJ Tim Dolla + DJ Nita + DJ Reaganomics + Pants Dance + Friendly Greg

OK guys. Let's talk some more about me. So I'm DJing the Pants Dance party in the Gallery of LPR (158 Bleecker Street) tonight. With the kid Pants Dance. DJ Reaganomics. DJ Nita. And DJ Tim Dolla. Um. Awesome. It's free. Skip the line by telling the folks there that you're there for the Pants Dance party. Good. Great. See you there.

Scott Melker + NSR + Friendly Greg

OK. So this blog is first and foremost about making myself look cool. So with that in mind, think about the fact that I haven't yet posted my latest mix. Weird, right? Yea, I'm forgetful. But alas, here it is. My good pal NSR and I sat down one afternoon. Made a crate. Tweaked it. Mapped out a track list. And recorded the mix the next afternoon in one take. It may not be the best thing you've ever heard, but it's certainly the best thing I've ever heard.

IRL v. WWW (NSR v. Friendly Greg) by FriendlyGreg

Speaking of 101 Management. Scott Melker. Easily one of the best DJs I've ever met. Easily the best DJ that likes me enough to give me high fives on the regular. Anyways. Much like the kid Turbz (see: yesterday), Scott makes mad edits. Mash-ups. Moombahpop. Etc. You can find the vast majority of them here. But yo. Most recently it's the "Sex on Fire" v. Gucci joint. And it's fire, and it's blowing up the internet. Give it a whirl:

Friendly Greg

Guys. Guys. Wait, guys. Are you there? You know I DJ, right? Not that I DJ particularly well. But like. I have gigs and make mixes and blah, blah, blah. Friendly Greg, that's me. And this right here is a mix I threw together on a whim yesterday morning. Bangers from names like Cameo. Prince. Earth, Wind & Fire. Pet Shop Boys? Is this what I usually end up playing at my gigs? Not so much. Is this what I wish I were playing at every last gig? Absolutely, dogs.

Wiz Khalifa + Filligar

So I interned for Warner Records a few years back. One of the A&R gents there was all kinds of obsessed with Wiz Khalifa. Dude gave us all copies of Grow Season, and it didn't leave my ride for the rest of the summer. Now Wiz is a super big deal, pumping out anthems on the regular. And putting out videos of his crew smoking, smoking, smoking, drinking, and smoking. Lift. Weights. Bow. Flex.

But enough about famous people. More about me. Tonight I'm DJing at The Mercury Lounge on Houston. Fellow Dartmouth kids (and one Hamilton dude) Filligar are headling. Check out the video for their new single "Not Gonna Settle" below and cop tickets here.

Hit up Filligar's SoundCloud page if you're trying to download "Not Gonna Settle" or explore some of their other material.

Not Gonna Settle by Filligar

EDIT: Whoops, show's sold out. Should be a limited number of tickets available at the door, though.

Nick Catchdubs + 101 Crew

101 is a monthly Thursday night party at 49 Grove with the 101 Management crew (Scott Melker, NSR, Ian Boyd, and me), Senari, the Prodigy kids, and some special guests. Tonight we've got Nick Catchdubs from Fool's Gold, Mike Famous, and Scott Matelic guesting. Hip-hop happy hour from 7-10, 101 DJs from 10-4, open vodka bar from 10-11, no cover, etc. Most importantly, I'll be playing Choppa's hit single "Choppa Style" back-to-back-to-etc. from 3-4.

Friendly Greg + Mixin' It Up

The Mixin' It Up series is one of Discobelle's best features, and Discobelle may be my favorite non-Panda Toes, non-BIGSTEREO blog. Thus, I was heaps excited when the Discobelle gents asked me to make a mix for the series. I set out with an aim to keep it relatively chill, but the mix was one Dutch house jam after another before I knew it. Stream it at SoundCloud or download it MediaFire. Give me some MySpace love. Please and thanks.

BIGSTEREO + Baby Monster + Friendly Greg

Oh my dear sweet goodness, S.X.S.W. is almost upon us. The most wonderful time of the year is fast approaching, and I feel the need to tell you fine folks about a couple of wee parties I'll be DJing. We'll start with the BIGSTEREO and Radar Maker party (which also happens to be the BIGSTEREO Records launch party as well as the Baby Monster release party). I'll be playing early 'cause I'm not a superstar, so show up early to catch my sets and I'll buy you a drink. (I won't buy you a drink.) RSVP here, get Twitter updates here, etc.

Acid Girls + Maya Vanya + Friendly Greg

I've been M.I.A. for a minute. My bad. Finals + trying to get my life in order before heading down to S.X.S.W. have kept me busy like whoa. Anywho, I'm back. And to kick things off, check out this (relatively) old video for Acid Girls' "The Numbers Song." This tracks been one of my favorite's for quite some time now, so not posting the video until half a year or so after it dropped is simply inexcusable. Meh, whatever. I'll be sure to make up for it by partying extra hard during their set at the Welcome to L.A. party at S.X.S.W. Follow the link for R.S.V.P. instructions.

Also. Be sure to check out my new mix for the Next Generation DJ contest. This mix was good enough to place me eighth overall. Congrats to Maya Vanya (the winners) - we're all heaps jealous. And of course, thanks to Let's Mix and their co-sponsors. Peep the final results here.

On that note, please throw a party at S.X.S.W. and please book me to DJ it. Come on folks, help me get some experience and exposure! Follow me on Twitter, friend me on MySpace, etc. Blah, blah, blah.

Riva Starr + Friendly Greg + Pedigree

If you found a chance to check out my mix Where the H is BBS? (which was entered in the Let's Mix N.G.D.J. competition), you heard a couple of Riva Starr cuts. They're delicious and I most certainly want more. For example, the ditty below. "Dance Me" is the second single from If Life Gives You Lemons Make Lemonade, which will drop (hopefully soon) on Made to Play.

On related note, I've got a few homework assignments for you:
1. Peep Discobelle's write-up of my new mix. The dudes chose Where the H is BBS? as their second pick for the N.G.D.J. contest! (Part 2 - follow the links and vote for my mix.)
2. Show me some MySpace and Twitter love.
3. Watch the video for "Say Aah." It's dank and the song's remarkable, but I can't figure out how to embed it.
4. Think about how good the following commercial is.

Ke$ha + Friendly Greg Mix

I promise that someday this blog will be more than just a tribute to all things Ke$ha. But before that happens, I'd like to flaunt my correctness yet again. 'Cause I'm humble and all, that is. I started playing "Tik Tok" ages ago. I thought it'd be a hit and it became a hit. I thought it'd shoot up the Billboard Hot 100 and I'll be darned if it isn't currently sitting at number two. Boom. Next up: "Backstabber," take my word for it. Now if only I could get my paws on a high-quality version of the cut to play out when I DJ. Hm.

Anywho, enough of my unconditional love for Ke$ha and utter inability to be humble about even the most obvious of predictions. I have a new mix (Top 40-free) up for listening at Let's Mix for their Next Generation DJ contest. (That embedded thing below may or may not allow y'all to listen to the mix while remaining on Panda Toes, but let's be real - I don't understand the internet and I'm entirely unsure as to what that little rectangle does.) So the idea is this: listen to the mix. If you like it, vote for me here. If you don't, stop listening. Much appreciated, much love, etc. My DJing MySpace page is here, f.y.i. - show me love.

Where the H is BBS? from Friendly Greg at Letsmix.com.

P.S. Ke$ha puts on a no-nonsense live show. Didn't expect it, was entirely blown away. Serial.
