Travel Back In Time With Clips From Saturday Morning Cartoons

This is a kind of re post of some clips that I featured on my Facebook page this weekend. Each of these is a trip down memory lane back to when all the new cartoons were broadcast on local network TV on Saturday mornings. If you are as old as I am you probably have very fond memories of waking up early on weekends to catch all the new cartoons. So put on your old underoos or footy pj's (you know you still got them) and pour yourself a bowl of Peanut Butter Crunch cause we are a going back .... back ...... to the 1970s in today's video feature!



Okay, I remember all of these shows except for "The Lost Island" which looks like every show Sid and Marty Krofft ever produced put in a blender.

I did some research on the show and found out that it is actually every show Sid and Marty Krofft ever produced thrown in a blender. You undoubtedly noticed the dinosaurs, Enik and the Sleestaks from "Land of the Lost", H.R. Pufnstuf and Sigmund the Sea Monster in that segment of the clip.

Hey if all those shows were popular on their own then throwing them all together would certainly be a hit? Right?

Wrong .... the show bombed.

here is the synopsis:

"The Lost Island" also featured a number of characters from other Krofft shows. Stories would somehow combine H.R. Pufnstuf, Enik, Sigmund the Sea Monster, and other unlikely characters into one storyline while they stay one step ahead of Dr. Deathray. Enik was the King of the Sleestak who lived within the Lost City and the island was also inhabited by dragons (utilizing stop-motion footage of Grumpy and Big Alice from "Land of the Lost").



Say what you will, but "Valley of the Dinosaurs" rocked! Although it was kinda the same story as "Land of the Lost".



I loved this cartoon back in the day. I was so pissed that there was only one season.



Not as popular as the Flintstones or the Jetsons were the Roman Holidays.



Here is a long forgotten cartoon. Take a cat that looks like Charlie Chaplin and team him up with characters from Laugh In.
