The Monstrous Movie Quote Of The Day: Roger Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit 1988)

"Well, you see, I didn't know where your office was. So I asked the newsboy. He didn't know. So I asked the fireman, the green grocerer, the butcher, the baker, they didn't know! But the liquor store guy... he knew."

THE MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE - Do You Know?

Trivia Compiled By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: IMDB / Wikipedia

The Man Called Flintstone is a 1966 American animated musical comedy film produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and released by Columbia Pictures. It was the second Hanna-Barbera feature, after Hey There, It's Yogi Bear! (1964). The film is a theatrical spin-off of the 1960-66 television series, The Flintstones, and is a swan song of the TV show, made immediately following the end of production on the series. The working title of the film was That Man Flintstone, with the film poster featuring Fred in the same pose of the Bob Peak poster for Our Man Flint. The film is a parody of the James Bond films.

This film was the first feature film voice role for Betty Rubble's voice actress Gerry Johnson. Additionally, it marked the first voice work of Henry Corden, who supplied Fred's singing voice, and would go on to fully assume the role of Fred after Alan Reed's death in 1977.

While the film includes numerous musical interludes, including one song performed by Louis Prima, the popular theme song from the show itself is not used. However, plots from several episodes of the TV series are used, including an episode in which Fred becomes involved in a spy caper spoofing Goldfinger, and another in which he encounters JL Gotrocks, the world's richest man, and his exact double.

During the "Teammates" musical number, when Fred and Barney's airplane falls apart, it becomes the "Flintstone Flyer", the pedal-powered contraption featured in the very first episode of the series.

Unusually, Wilma is seen wearing a blue dress in this film rather than her usual white.

The airplane The Flintstones take to get to Paris has "Qantas" - the name of a real-life airline - written on the side.

The DVD was released outside the United States only, because Columbia Pictures owned the rights to the songs used in the movie. Only after the rights to the songs cleared in August 2008 was the movie released in the United States of America.

After Fred's tie got ruined by Barney while trying to escape the Green Goose's tower, the tie reappears moments later after Fred and Barney got out from the door of the tower.

Rock Slag disappears in back of the desk at the pizza place (after he got knocked out by Barney), when The Chief makes a Phone call and Fred leaves with Tayna.

Variety gave The Man Called Flintstone a positive review on August 10, 1966, calling the production "excellent" and noting that the "stone-age scenery and machinery are mildly amusing and sometimes highly inventive". The review judges that the plot is a fast-moving and clever spoof of contemporary spy films.

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: As Cool McCool Says "When You're Right, Number One, You're Right"

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Terri Furr Pressley

Just try and name every cartoon and classic commercial in this great clip that I now refer to as "fifteen minutes of pure retro joy!". In know I did and I almost went blind! Granted the task wasn't too difficult on my end because I'm actually ... ahem ... cough ... old enough to remember just about all of them.

For all of you out there too young to remember any of these shows let me clue you into the fact that in a time long ago, but not forgotten, yet, Saturday morning television was not the vast entertainment wasteland it is today. No sir, Saturday morning television was three channels (NBC, ABC & CBS .. yes there was a time when there were only three) of non-stop animation and really cool programs aimed at young people that lasted from 6 am to noon. Yes, a whole six hours!

To break it down for you, a lot the shows on Adult Swim, well they are based off "real" Saturday morning shows from the sixties and seventies. Oh ... check out Boomerang some time!

Okay let's see if I can do this? Play along at home if you like!

"Spiderman"
"H.R. Pufnstuf"
That damn "Life" cereal commercial ... "Hey Mikey! He Likes It!"
"Davey and Goliath"
"Time Bomb" ... okay I don't know that one. Any show that gives kids the idea that explosives are okay sounds irresponsible to me! That's the parent in me talking. I'm just mad that I didn't get to blow stuff up!
"Stratego"
"Casper"
"The Beatles"
"Atom Ant"
"Secret Squirrel"
"Top Cat"
"BASH!" ... a game that looks like you get to beat the crap out of some poor slob with a hammer! God I miss the days when mindless violence was cool.
"Electro-Shot Shooting Gallery" ... back when guns were cool! What has happened to us?
"Underdog" .. who can kick the ass of every one of those lame superheroes in the clip before it.
"Boggle"
"The Jetsons" .. okay I know you've heard of that one!
"King Kong" ... yep the big guy had a cartoon series that was made in Japan (See King Kong Escapes)
"Mystery Date" ... A meat market for young girls ... wanna know why you never live up to your girls expectations? Thank you Milton Bradley!!!
"The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour" ... the coolest intro (next to Johnny Quest) ever!! .. "Overture, curtain, lights! This is it. The night of nights. No more rehearsing or nursing a part. We know every part by heart!"
"Space Ghost"
Um ... a game where you overload a camel until his spine snaps ... again great idea!
"Magilla Gorilla"

Okay ... enough of that I have Attention Deficit Disorder so I can't keep that up for fifteen minutes!

You get the idea anyway just about everything that was ultra cool to us kids back in the late sixties and seventies condensed into one glob of images that makes us pine away for days gone bye and gives us the bragging rights over the younger generation who grew up with sub par programing.

(I'm laughing and pointing) Ha Ha!

Here are the words to the Bugs Bunny intro:

"The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour."
(curtain rises)
"Overture, curtain, lights!
This is it. The night of nights.
No more rehearsing or nursing a part.
We know every part by heart!
(cane flip)
Overture, curtain, lights!
This is it. We'll hit the heights!
And oh, what heights we'll hit!
On with the show, this is it!
(character procession)
Tonight what heights we'll hit!
On with the show, this is it!"
"Starring the Oscar-winning rabbit, Bugs Bunny."
"And also starring my fast-feathered friend, the Road Runner!"
(Road Runner zips forward on film projector screen)
"Beep, beep!"
"Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
That Coyote is really a crazy clown!
When will he learn that he never can slow him down?
Poor little Road Runner never bothers anyone.
Just running down the road is his idea of having fun!"
"Beep, beep!"
"The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour."

When will that Coyote ever learn?

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: "Quit Steaming Up My Tail!"

Written By: Ken Hulsey

One thing that I try to do here at Monster Island News is showcase all forms of ultra-cool entertainment, be that movies, TV shows or music. One genre that has been lacking as of late has been animation, namely cartoons. Being a child of the 70s I was raised on what I consider to be the "Golden Age" of cartoon animation, which in my mind is anything produced between 1930 and 1980. Granted one could argue that a second such golden age took place in the early 1990s with all the great television shows and films produced by Disney that were produced in that all too brief window.

I can't argue against that point, there were some really great toons from that time.

That being said, I generally turn on modern cartoon programs and throw up in my mouth a little.

So it's the classics for me and the king of such classics has always been the one-and-only Bugs Bunny, who to me has always been equated to the king of all comedy. Nothing brings a smile to my face or a deep belly laugh like a Warner Bros Bugs Bunny short.

Actually to convey a secret, Bugs is actually the one character that I have based the core of my personality and sense of humor on. I know it should be Jesus ... or Charlton Heston ... or someone like that but in actuality it is an animated Wabbit. Of course this should come to no surprise to anyone who knows me well. I actually quote the carrot chomping one under my breath and actually make asides to an imaginary audience that isn't actually there.

I know .... reserve me a room at the sanitarium ...

So today I kinda picked a cartoon out of a hat due to the simple fact that there are far too many great Bugs Bunny cartoons to make a selection of just one.

So you get "Bully for Bugs" today.

Here is some history:

Bully for Bugs is a 1952 Warner Brothers Looney Tunes theatrical cartoon short released in August 1953. It was directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese.

In his biography Chuck Amuck Chuck Jones claims that he made this cartoon after producer Eddie Selzer burst into Jones' workspace one day and announced, for no readily apparent reason, that bullfights were not funny, and they were not to make a cartoon about them. Since Selzer had, in Jones' opinion, consistently proven himself to be wrong about absolutely everything (having once barred Jones from doing any cartoons featuring Pepé Le Pew, on the grounds that he perceived them as not being funny, which led to Jones and Maltese to do For Scent-imental Reasons, which won an Oscar, which Selzer accepted), the only possible option was to make the cartoon. The sounds of the crowd are recorded from a genuine bull-fighting crowd in Barcelona, Spain. The boulder to the face gag was reused from Rabbit Punch which was also directed by Chuck Jones five years earlier.

Despite the fact that it has carrots, some fans have come to the conclusion that Bugs' reason for his journey to the carrot festival was to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (though the release date for this cartoon was in August). It should also be noted that while the Coachella Valley is a major agricultural region which grows some carrots, it does not hold an annual carrot festival. The immediate area's carrot growing region is outside of the valley in the Imperial County town of Holtville which does in fact hold an annual carrot festival.

Catching Up With The Indie Monster Movie Scene - Giant Gila Monster, Godaizer, Jersey Devils & Giant Shoulders

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Avery Guerra, Kenneth Barker, Hillary Yeo

I really have to apologize for not keeping on top of all the really cool stuff that lands in my email each week about some really cool independent film features that I am sure many of you would enjoy knowing about. I don't mean to make excuses but it is the holidays and this boy has a job so time is at a premium.

Over this past week especially there were a few items that deserved their own articles but as I just mentioned time was one thing I didn't have ... yadda yadda yadda. So here is a rather brief recap with links where you can find out more about these projects.

The Giant Gila Monster

Film makers Tony Randel and Jim Wynorski are presently working on a remake of the 1958 cult classic "The Giant Gila Monster" in Franklin, Indiana and is in need of about a hundred extras to get squished by said Gila Monster. The film which stars Don Sullivan, who was the star of the original, will be aired under the title "Gila!" on the SyFy Channel sometime in 2012. This time around the idea of using a real gila monster as the monster is being pushed aside for a CGI creation.

The plot ... well that's simple .... a small Mid-Western town in the 1950s gets menaced by a giant mutated lizard. Nuff said.

If you would like to be in the film here is the info from a member of the production:

“We are shooting 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM December 16th at the Fitness center in Franklin college in Franklin Indiana (The address is: The Franklin College Fitness Center, Grizzly Drive, Franklin, Indiana). We are looking for extras to dress in jeans, white t-shirt (plain) and running shoes.”

Godaizer

For just over a year now I have been talking from time to time about a short animated film that I really liked called "Godaizer". The film is the creation of digital animator Hillary Yeo and is basically an homage to such Japanese giant robot series as "Tetsujin 28-go", "Mazinger", "Ultraman: The Next" and "WXIII: Patlabor the Movie 3".

Yeo took her little film out on the festival circuit in 2011 and found it to be "a sobering experience." There are a lot of people doing digital animation these days and the competition is pretty rough perhaps. Anyway Yeo has decided to skip film festivals and post the entire 20-minute film online for everyone to enjoy. Here it is in it's entirety:

Godaizer Animated Short. (Full Length 19 min version.) from hilscreate on Vimeo.

On The Shoulders Of Giants

British film maker Kenneth Barker has just posted a reworked teaser trailer for his upcoming retro scifi film "On The Shoulders Of Giants". The film is an homage to such classic 1950's popcorn flicks as "Forbidden Planet" and "This Island Earth". Give it a look see:

The film which was supposed to already be out has been pushed back to a summer 2012 release due to the amount of special effects needed for the production.

Jersey Devil Expeditions

As you know Monster Island News is you crypto horror movie headquarters and I have yet another such film for you today. Thomas Smith of Fighting Owl Films is presently looking for funding to get his film "Jersey Devil Expeditions" off the ground.

Here is the plot:

Jersey Devil Expeditions, a horror adventure focusing on the legend and folklore of the mythical Jersey Devil. Filled with humor, scares and romance, the story explores what happens when the employees of a ragtag roadside attraction known as Jersey Devil Expeditions -- popular for its camping trips, in which guests search for and eventually "encounter" the mysterious creature -- learn that the legend has come to life. Stalked in the forest, the guests and their guides must fend off the terrifying beast and find a way to put an end to the bloody legend.

Smith has a screenplay in hand and has even put together a teaser trailer for the film .... dig the creepy nursery rhyme in this one!

Anyone interested in helping Smith with his film should visit FIGHTING OWL FILMS.

That's it for this week folks .... have a merry Christmas!

FUTURAMA Wants You To Put Your Head In A Jar

Source: Comedy Central

Matt Groening, creator of the Emmy®-Award-winning series “Futurama,” today announced the launch of the “Futurama Head-In-A-Jar Creator” App during the show’s panel at Comic-Con. The free App – developed in a collaboration between COMEDY CENTRAL, the producers of “Futurama” and Rough Draft Studios – allows fans to design their own Head-In-A-Jar, a popular recurring feature of the show. The “Futurama” App was released simultaneously with Groening’s announcement and is now available for download on iPhone and iPod Touch.

“The ‘Head-In-A-Jar’ App is an interactive playground for fans,” said Michele Ganeless, president, COMEDY CENTRAL. “The new App truly celebrates the show and gives fans a great place to enter and experience the world of ‘Futurama.’”

"In the future, we'll all be heads in jars," said Groening. "But right now we can live this utopian fantasy in cartoon form."

The new App is loaded with a wealth of features. The “Head-In-A-Jar Creator” feature allows users to jump into the animated world of “Futurama” and create their own customized character. Users can choose from a male or female human, robot or alien, and customize many traits including the eyes, nose, hair, blemishes and background. Original artwork and sound design were created by the Futurama team specifically for the App. Additional features include “Futurama”-themed accessories, such as a foil hat, Flexo’s beard, Nibbler’s antenna and a customized name plate for each head designed. Once a Head is created, users can upload it to Facebook and Twitter and share with friends. Users can also save them to their photo gallery, set as their wallpaper or as an icon for one of their friends’ contacts.

“The Head Museum” is an innovative feature that allows fans to create customized exhibits of all their Head creations. Users can then curate various groups (e.g. family, friends, co-workers, favorite sports team) to display the Heads. Users can also share these Exhibits on Facebook and Twitter.

Additional App features include streaming clips from the current season of “Futurama” airing on COMEDY CENTRAL.

"Futurama," returned with 13 all-new half-hour episodes beginning Thursday, June 23 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.

"Futurama," created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen, is a Curiosity Company production in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television. Rough Draft Studios, Inc. is the animation studio.

20th Century Fox Television, a division of News Corp., is a leading supplier of entertainment.

Cohen and stars Billy West (Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg), Katey Sagal (Leela), John DiMaggio (Bender) and Maurice LaMarche (Kif Kroker, Calculon, Morbo). "Futurama," the Emmy® Award-winning series, and "Ugly Americans" air as part of a weekly, one-hour “Thurs-Dimension” animation block on Thursdays from 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT on COMEDY CENTRAL with "Futurama" from 10:00-10:30 p.m. and "Ugly Americans" from 10:30-11:00 p.m.

Take New York City, add every horrifying beast, science-fiction freak and fantasy faerie, shake thoroughly, and you've got "Ugly Americans," an animated series that follows Mark Lilly, a social worker at the Department of Integration, as he helps new citizens both human and "other" adapt to hectic life in the Big Apple. There are easier tasks than soothing a vengeful mummy, being a slave in Satan’s dark army and trying to circumcise wizards, but Mark proves he’s up to the challenge, even if his co-workers are as incompetent as ever.

Mark's case load during the second season is heavy as always and his Department of Integration colleagues are less than helpful, including Twayne (Michael-Leon Wooley), a terrorizing demonic bureaucrat; Mark’s succubus co-worker and casual fling Callie Maggotbone (Natasha Leggero), who has some strange ideas about where to take their relationship; Leonard Powers (Randy Pearlstein), an aging drunken wizard and Mark’s office mate; and Lt. Grimes (Larry Murphy), a law-enforcement officer who despises non-humans. At least Mark still has his zombie roommate Randall Skeffington (Kurt Metzger), who doesn’t care what Mark does, as long as he covers his half of the rent.

In August, MTV Networks' "345 Games" division will release “Ugly Americans: Apocalypseggedon” (available for Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network), a four player co-op side-scroller shooter game that features an exclusive script written by the show’s writers – including a new character unique to the game and custom voiceovers from the show’s actors. Uniting the spirit and humor of the series with addictive game play, players of “Ugly Americans: Apocalypseggedon” will hit the streets to clean up the chaos and prevent the impending apocalypse by resolving case files and fighting otherworldly citizens.

"Futurama" focuses on the life of Philip Fry (Billy West), a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy who accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later with a fresh start at life at Planet Express, an intergalactic delivery company. There he meets love interest Leela (Katey Sagal), a sexy cyclops with anger management issues, and best friend Bender (John DiMaggio), a beer-powered kleptomaniac robot. The series aired for five seasons on Fox (1999 to 2003) earning Emmy® nominations each season while winning three times, including "Outstanding Animated Program" in 2002.

Cohen's brilliantly subversive animated sci-fi comedy, "Futurama," returns with 13 all-new half-hour episodes beginning on Thursday, June 23 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. The all-comedy channel is kicking off the “Futurama” season in style with two new episodes airing back-to-back. Then, beginning on Thursday, June 30, COMEDY CENTRAL’s animated series, "Ugly Americans," premieres its second season at 10:30 p.m., making Thursday nights a one-hour “Thurs-Dimension” animation block.

In the premiere episode, “Neutopia,” the Planet Express crew crash-lands on an unknown world, where they encounter a bizarre alien who is unfamiliar with the concept of gender. The creature subsequently conducts a series of experiments, modifying the crew members' sexual characteristics in strange and wondrous ways.

In the second episode, “Benderama,” Bender gains the power of infinite self-replication, producing a vast horde of smaller and smaller Benders. Comedian Patton Oswalt guest-stars as "Unattractive Giant Monster," a repulsive alien who is extremely sensitive about his appearance. When the giant's feelings are hurt by the people of Earth, it is up to Bender and his minions to fend off the giant's attack in an epic battle of Good vs. Ugly.

Special guest stars this season include Patton Oswalt, Dan Castellaneta, Stephen Hawking, and Buzz Aldrin. The show's entire original voice cast will be returning, including stars Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio.

Starting on Monday, June 6, the site will feature bi-weekly collections of five “Futurama” full episodes selected by the cast and crew, beginning with the “5 Nerdiest Episodes” selected by David X. Cohen. The “Futurama” Facebook fan base has grown from one million “likes” prior to its return last summer to close to 14 million “likes” today, making it one of the top television sites on Facebook. On Wednesday, May 4, COMEDY CENTRAL launched the “Countdown to Futurama” on Facebook that features an exclusive sneak preview of season 6B content each day, including sneak peek clips, episode stills, storyboards, character designs and more.

GODAIZER - A Giant Robot And Monster Orgasmotron

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Hillary Yeo

Last December I posted an article about a great new animated giant robot short called "Godaizer" which has been a three year labor of love for film maker Hillary Yeo. Today, thanks to Yeo, I was able to view the finished product and let me tell you I was left nearly speechless. What Yeo has been able to capture is the pure essence of both the giant robot and giant monster genre in one amazing 20-minute film.

Think of "Godaizer" as "Tetsujin 28-go", "Mazinger", "Ultraman: The Next" and "WXIII: Patlabor the Movie 3" all assembled together to mash up in a perfect union with a bow on top.

There is no way that any fan of either Japanese anime or Tokusatsu could walk away from this one without feeling totally satisfied. The animation is beautiful and seamless, the robot design for "Godaizer" is timeless, (as if it jumped off the screen from a 70s Japanese cartoon) the monster is a nasty looking as can be and the combat sequences look pure Tsuburaya/Tanaka/Honda.

Here is a short synopsis of the plot:

An independent computer animated short about a robot repair warehouse run by a old man and his grandson where old decommissioned giant robot Godaizer is kept.

When a giant monster is awoken, its time for Godaizer to rise again and defeat it. But at what cost is it going to take to take down the monster?

At this time Yeo has entered "Godaizer" in a few festivals, including the Long Island International Film Expo. The film maker is also trying to get the word out there about his short film, which I am more than happy to aide him with, and has found the process to be a little harder than he first anticipated. True, it is hard to get noticed in this modern age where entertainment is literally at your fingertips, but I am more than confident that when people are able to see "Godaizer" the word will spread like wildfire.

Yeo has created something special here so don't be surprised if his career takes a major step forward after this.

The Flintstones Say "Smoke Em If Ya Got Em Kids"

Written By: Ken Hulsey

Cartoon characters smoking? WTF!

It is hard to fathom that a cigarette company would use cartoon characters to sell it's product to children, but that is exactly what Winston Cigarettes did back in the early 1960's.

During the original run of The Flinstones the show was sponsored by several different companies, one of them Winston Cigarettes. To showcase the sponsor's products Hanna-Barbera (the animation company that produced The Flintstones) produced several add spots featuring their beloved characters using the products ..... even smoking cigarettes.

Today such a advertising campaign would be strictly taboo .... but back in 1961 nobody thought twice about it and the adds aired on prime-time television for the whole family, including youngsters, to see. It is pretty damn obvious that these adds, though made for adults (The Flintstones, though animated, was considered adult viewing), were really designed to get kids to take up smoking.

Screw you Joe Camel .... we got Fred and Barney!

I actually think that there was an add with The Great Gazoo reading a Playboy and drinking Coors beer ..... but I may be mistaken.

All jokes aside these adds did air at the end of every episode of The Flintstones back in the day.

Here are an example of some of these commercials:

There are just soooo many things that are not PC about this one! "Hey Barney let's sit on our fat prehistoric butts while the women folk do all the hard work .....". Forget the fact that they are smoking for a minute and think about how much of an uproar there would be today for Betty and Wilma being portrayed as female servants to their male husbands alone.

You've come a long way baby!

This is the kinda stuff that you will never see on Boomerang!

Okay, the last one is a Jelly add .... which would be okay .... except for the fact that it promotes obesity in children. Which is now a big no-no! In fact Fred and Barney are a bit on the heavy side so maybe the whole show should be banned?

Sounds crazy right?

You never know? Things are getting kinda weird around Washington.

Just saying ....

This New Bigfoot Clip Is ABOMINABLE

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Avery Guerra

The ever present net scout Avery Guerra turned me on to this wonderful bit of fun animation called "Abominable." Actually it's a great combination of computer animation combined with live actors.

"Abominable" is the handy work of Lamson To and Joseph Won who put the short together as a school project.

Here is the synopsis:

Up on a distant snow covered mountain, an Evil Hunter of mythical creatures sets his sights on a Baby Yeti, but is soon meets his demise when he comes face to face with Daddy Yeti.

A Sasquatch on skis? Looks like the Canadian Olympic team has a new member? There goes our chances for the gold. Can you imagine having to face off against Bigfoot?

Good job guys!

SHAUN OF THE DEAD In 60 Seconds Scott Pilgrim Style

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Bleeding Cool

Okay, you all should be aware of my love for everything Simon Pegg and Nick Frost related by now. I feel that they are the brightest comedy duo to come along in a long .... long .... long time and I feel that their latest film "Paul" was highly underrated by critics and fans alike.

That being said I would like to turn everyone on to this little bit of animation that I discovered on Youtube. This piece is the handy work of an animator who calls himself (herself?) "Pippinopalon" and I think that you will agree that it is bloody brilliant!

Here is the low-down from Pippinopalon:

My entry into the Empire/Jameson Done in 60 Seconds Competition 2011!

This is basically my love letter to all things Edgar Wright/Scott Pilgrim! I saw and read Scott Pilgrim in the summer of last year, and it had such a massive impact I decided to make this to vent my creative juices!

interesting fact - I did a cracking caricature of Bill Nighy but I had to leave it out in the end. Shame :(

I did the voices for Shaun and Ed and my mum kindly lent her vocal chords for Liz and Daisy... I Mean Yvonne!

Must be a dude if he did the voices of Shaun and Ed ..... hey you never know on the internet .... still don't I guess ..... could be a deep voiced woman ..... maybe?

Anyway .... great work!

Ed: What's the plan then?
Shaun: Right.
[cuts to dream sequence]
Shaun: We take Pete's car, we drive over to Mum's, we go in, take care of Philip - "I'm so sorry, Philip" - then we grab Mum, we go over to Liz's place, hole up, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over.
Ed: Why have we got to go to Liz's?
Shaun: Because we do.
Ed: But she dumped you!
Shaun: I have to know if she's all right!
Ed: Why?
Shaun: Because I love her!
Ed: All right... gayyy... I'm not staying there, though.
Shaun: Why not?
Ed: If we hole up, I wanna be somewhere familiar, I wanna know where the exits are, and I wanna be allowed to smoke.
Shaun: Okay.
[cuts to dream sequence again]
Shaun: We take Pete's car, go round Mum's, go in, deal with Philip - "Sorry, Philip!" - grab Mum, go to Liz's, pick her up, bring her back here, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over.
Ed: Perfect!
Shaun: No, no, no, no, no, wait, we can't bring her back here.
Ed: Why not?
Shaun: Well, it's not really safe, is it?
Ed: Yeah, look at the state of it.
Shaun: Where's safe? Where's familiar?
Ed: Where can I smoke?
[Shaun and Ed pause then slowly make a realisation]
Shaun: [cuts to dream sequence a third time] Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?
Ed: Yeah, boyyyeee!
[Shaun and Ed clang their weapons together]

26 New Episodes Of FUTURAMA On Deck For Comedy Central

Source: Comedy Central

The future is looking bright for Fry, Leela and Bender!

COMEDY CENTRAL and Twentieth Century Fox Television have announced today the pick-up of 26 new episodes (Seasons "7- A" and "7-B") of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's brilliantly subversive animated sci-fi comedy, "Futurama." The announcement was made today by Twentieth Century Fox Television Chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden, and David Bernath, Executive Vice President, program strategy and multiplatform programming for COMEDY CENTRAL. The first installment of 13 new episodes will premiere in the summer of 2012, with the additional 13 new episodes to air the following summer of 2013 on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Seven years after its last original episode aired on Fox, the sixth season premiere of "Futurama" last June led COMEDY CENTRAL to its best Thursday prime ever among young men. The animated sci-fi comedy continued its out-of-this-world winning streak throughout the summer, averaging 2.5 million viewers each week, along with a 1.5 P18-49 rating, a 3.0 M18-34 rating and 3.3 M18-24 rating. In the social media realm, the "Futurama" Facebook fan base has grown from one million "likes" prior to its return last summer to over 11 million "likes" today, making it one of the top television sites on Facebook.

"Successfully bringing the show back last summer was gratifying enough," said Bernath. "Now, being able to extend the series for two more years is beyond our expectations! The dedicated fans have spoken and we are excited to bring them 'Futurama' for the foreseeable future.""We're very grateful to COMEDY CENTRAL and Twentieth Television for this show of support," said Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. "Our entire staff will celebrate tonight by going out and getting even drunker.""Matt and David created one of the most brilliantly subversive animated comedies ever made in 'Futurama' and we consider its continued life on COMEDY CENTRAL to be a huge victory for this studio," commented TCFTV Chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman. "This show is a tremendous labor of love for all concerned, from its talented voice cast to the incredible writers and animators who pour so much of themselves into every episode. And its fans are among the most loyal and passionate there are, so we're especially pleased to be able to promise them many more original episodes to look forward to in the years ahead."

The show's entire original voice cast will be returning, including stars Billy West, Katey Sagal, and John DiMaggio. "It is my great honor to be back with all my friends and colleagues," said West. "There's nothing better."John DiMaggio commented, "Winner, winner, chicken dinner!"

"Futurama" was a staple of Fox's Sunday night animation block from 1999 to 2003 before ceasing production on original episodes. In June 2006, COMEDY CENTRAL acquired the rights to the existing 72 episodes of the series, which the channel began airing in January 2008 and four recently-produced extended-length "Futurama" adventures: "Bender's Big Score," "The Beast with a Billion Backs," "Bender's Game" and "Into the Wild Green Yonder," which enjoyed enormous success both on COMEDY CENTRAL and in DVD release.

"Futurama" is only the second series in the history of the medium to go back into production based on the strength of its DVD sales and repeat airings on cable.

"Futurama" focuses on the life of Philip Fry (Billy West), a 25 -year-old pizza delivery boy who accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later with a fresh start at life and a "diverse" new group of friends including Leela (Katey Sagal), a tough but lovely one-eyed alien and Bender (John DiMaggio), a robot who possesses human characteristics and flaws.

The series aired for five seasons on Fox (1999 to 2003) earning Emmy® nominations each season while winning three times, including "Outstanding Animated Program" in 2002."

The Philosophy Of Fry

Written By: Ken Hulsey

It is true that some of the most profound quotes in history have come from the mouths of some of the simplest of people. Such is the case with one Philip J. Fry an often misunderstood delivery boy who was delivering pizzas one day and delivering packages to far off distant worlds the next. A man who is in love with a one-eyed-mutant-woman, a man who loves a dog that used to do his business in the pizza sauce and a man who's best friend is a robot who wants him dead ..... most of the time. Indeed this man among men (?) is a complicated soul from which pure truthful philosophy has often times leaked out .....accidentally.

The words listed here are for the ages, words not only to be thought about and talked about but words to be heard, though we may not understand them all.

Such is the true essence of philosophy.

Here are the words of Philip J. Fry:

Philip J. Fry: Well, we missed the premiere, and we're gonna die. Might as well enjoy the sights.
[a Neanderthal skeleton floats past the window]
Philip J. Fry: Oh, my God! Sylvester Stallone!

Fry: DOOP? What's that?
Professor Hubert Farnsworth: It's like the United Nations from your time, Fry.
Fry: Huh?
Hermes Conrad: Or like the Federation in your Star Trek show.
Fry: Oh, I see.

Philip J. Fry: Professor, my Fry-fro's all frizzy.
Prof. Hubert J. Farnsworth: Okay.
Philip J. Fry: That's all.
[slicks his hair back]
Philip J. Fry: Oh, also, I'm covered with severe burns.
Prof. Hubert J. Farnsworth: So? What of it?
Philip J. Fry: Well, why is... those things?
Prof. Hubert J. Farnsworth: You mean you don't remember?
Philip J. Fry: Nope, nothing. It's like when I passed out in college, except no one drew magic marker penises on my forehead.

Philip J. Fry: You can't lose hope when it's hopeless. You gotta hope more, then put your fingers in your ears and go, "Blah! Blah! Blah! Blah!... "

Philip J. Fry: I don't want my comic picked apart by nerds. I'm taking it to a comic book convention

Philip J. Fry: I can't watch this 'cause it's creepy and wrong and sick. However, I will watch out of curiosity.

Fry: Man, I thought Ultimate Robot Fighting was real, like pro wrestling, but it turns out it's fixed, like boxing.

Bender: Just tell us what's happening!
Turanga Leela: We've gone back to December 31, 2999. We're about to re-live the last five years all over again!
Philip J. Fry: I've got a strange feeling...
Turanga Leela: Déjà vu?
Philip J. Fry: Leela! Now's not the time to come on to me in French.

Dwight Conrad: I heard alcohol makes you stupid.
Fry: No I'm... doesn't!

Fry: Oh my God. This is just like that drug trip I saw in that movie while I was on that drug trip.

Fry: Wait, I'm having one of those things... like a headache, with pictures.
Leela: An idea?
Fry: [Nodding, a slight painful whimper in his voice] MmmHmm...

Philip J. Fry: This is every bit as fun as the real Civil War.
Turanga Leela: Not the Civil War, Private. We're re-enacting the Sith Wars.
Philip J. Fry: Sith? What the Hoth?

Bender: Dying sucks butt! How do you living beings cope with mortality?
Turanga Leela: Violent outbursts.
Amy Wong: General sluttiness.
Philip J. Fry: Thanks to denial, I'm immortal.

Philip J. Fry: Leela's not just a chick, she's the chick I love. But don't tell her I called her a 'chick,' or she'll kill me.

Leela: Fry, put down those binoculars. The wall of that strip club isn't going to collapse twice in one week.
Philip J. Fry: I know, and I've learned to accept it.

Steve Castle: Let's practice your answers. "I'm worried about blank."
Fry: Don't you worry about blank. Let me worry about blank
[later]
Leela: Fry, we're worried about Planet Express.
Fry: Don't you worry about Planet Express. Let me worry about blank.

Philip J. Fry: We can live without machines. I was in Webelos

Fry: [about being sentenced to death by "Snu-snu"] I never thought I would die this way, but I've always really hoped.

Fry: I like your tail.
Ombrial: Thanks. I like those wriggly doodads growning from your hips.
Fry: Thanks. They're called pants.

Fry: You find me fascinating, even when I'm not pretending to be a jewel thief or a lion tamer.
Ombrial: Lions? You have sea lions on the land?
Fry: Yep. We call them "land sea lions." I tame them.

Fry: You're not jealous are you?
Leela: NO!
Fry: Good, 'cause I consider my fake relationship with you a lot more meaningful!

Fry: Poor Bender, you're seeing things. You've been drinking too much, or too little, I forget how it works with you. Anyway, you haven't drunk exactly the right amount.

[Fry trying to talk Leela out of cosmetic surgery]
Fry: But you're better than normal, you're abnormal.

[Fry walks out of a bathroom carrying a "Fresh" Egg Salad Sandwich he just bought from a dispenser]
Bender: What's that black cracker?
Fry: A tomato.
Leela: You're not going to eat a sandwich from a truck stop men's room, are you?
Fry: Eh, what's the worst thing that could happen?
[Takes a bite]
Fry: Ehh, it's like a party in my mouth, and everyone's throwing up.

Fry: All right. It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two-liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix-tape... Let's rock.

Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is an invented name for the process of making fine-art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word was coined to distinguish commonly known industrial "Iris proofs" from the fine-art prints artists were producing on the same printers. The name has since come to mean any high-quality, ink-jet print, and is often used in galleries and print shops to denote such. In the past few years, the word (as a fine-art term) has come to be associated with prints using fade-resistant "archival" inks and the inkjet printers that use them. A wide variety of substrates are available, including various textures and finishes such as matte photo paper, watercolor paper, cotton canvas, or artist textured vinyl.
