The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: Wabbits Wabbits Wabbits!
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Happy Easter Monster Maniacs! Everybody loves rabbits right? They are cute, cuddly and make great pets. I'm sure that many of you gave a rabbit as a gift to innocent child this Easter didn't you?
Well you may want to rethink that gift after watching this clip from the classic (?) horror film "Night of the Lepus". It plainly illustrates just how vicious those cute little critters can become! One little science experiment goes awry and bingo ... you have a herd of giant mutant bunnies running around killing campers and chowing down on local cattle.
"Zillions and twillions of wabbits! Where are they all coming from?" - Elmer Fudd
Indeed there are "zillions and twillions" of real bunnies running around miniature sets in "Night of the Lepus" which was one of a group of "critter on the loose" films produced during the 1970s that included "Empire of the Ants", "Food of the Gods", "The Giant Spider Invasion" and "Kingdom of the Spiders".
In the end the residents of Tucson, which include cowboy actor Stuart Whitman, Psycho alum Janet Leigh, Star Trek doc Deforest Kelley, and the dashing Rory Calhoun, decide to electrify a set of railroad track like some giant Lionel train set and "fwicassee" (Fudd) them all. Of course the plan works and the world is saved!
Certainly it would have been in better taste to post a clip from a spiritual film like "The Ten Commandments", "Ben-Hur" or "The Greatest Story Ever Told" on a day like today, but that's not how we roll here at Monster Island News. Instead we like to leave you with visions of giant rabbits covered in fake blood running and running and running .....

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: Will You Believe It When You're Dead?
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Happy St Patrick's Day monster movie maniacs! By now you are probably really drunk or watching March Madness basketball ... or really drunk watching basketball? Anyway today is a day for all things green so I have a clip from the greatest Irish sci fi monster movie of all time "The Green Slime!"
Okay it's a Japanese flick with actors from Europe produced by Americans but it does have the word "green" in the title so I declare it an honorary Irish movie ... as if I could do such a thing.
There has to be somebody Irish in the thing right?
It also wouldn't hurt if you were actually drunk while your watching "The Green Slime" because it is one of those "it's so bad it's good" kinda films which means yours truly really digs it and watch it every chance I get.
The clip I have for you today is fan made job combining action sequences from the movie with it's ultra groovy theme song.
What can it be, what is the reason
Is this the end to all that we've done?
Is it something in your head?
Will you believe it when you're dead?
Green slime, green slime, green slime
Poetry ... Leif Garrett and David Cassidy eat your hearts out!
History:The Green Slime (ガンマー第3号 宇宙大作戦 Ganmā Daisan Gō: Uchū Daisakusen, aka Gamma 3: Operation Outer Space) is a 1968 science-fiction film produced by MGM in the United States and shot in Japan at the studios of Toei Company by director Kinji Fukasaku. The film was spearheaded by the same creative team who produced similar Italian outings including Wild, Wild Planet, Ivan Reiner and Walter Manley.
A group of astronauts set out to stop a giant asteroid on a collision course with the planet Earth. They land on the asteroid, plant explosive charges and destroy it. Afterwards they return to the staging area, a space station called Gamma 3 in orbit around the Earth. Unfortunately, a scientist from the mission has unwittingly carried a luminous-green substance on the leg of his spacesuit which quickly mutates into one-eyed, tentacled monsters with the ability to discharge lethal bolts of electricity. The Gamma 3 crew fend off the alien creatures with their laser-based weaponry, only to discover the creatures feed off the energy which, in turn, allows them to multiply rapidly, sprouting the new creatures from their blood. As the creatures overrun the station the crew continues to fight back against overwhelming odds.
- Wikipedia
In other words big globs of green space goo mutates into giant sausages with one red eye and tentacles that has an unquenchable hunger for electricity. You shoot one and it's blood turns into several more. People die and the space station goes boom!
The female love interest Luciana Paluzzi is also easy on the eyes ... you don't even have to have a few to think so!
In parting I want to share an Irish blessing with all of you:
"May you live a long life Full of gladness and health, With a pocket full of gold As the least of you wealth. May the dreams you hold dearest, Be those which come true, The kindness you spread, Keep returning to you."
... and may I add if you step in some green alien space goo (hopefully not green beer spew) don't track it in the house or you will soon be overrun with mutant space goobers who will run up your electric bill.

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: As Cool McCool Says "When You're Right, Number One, You're Right"
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Terri Furr Pressley
Just try and name every cartoon and classic commercial in this great clip that I now refer to as "fifteen minutes of pure retro joy!". In know I did and I almost went blind! Granted the task wasn't too difficult on my end because I'm actually ... ahem ... cough ... old enough to remember just about all of them.
For all of you out there too young to remember any of these shows let me clue you into the fact that in a time long ago, but not forgotten, yet, Saturday morning television was not the vast entertainment wasteland it is today. No sir, Saturday morning television was three channels (NBC, ABC & CBS .. yes there was a time when there were only three) of non-stop animation and really cool programs aimed at young people that lasted from 6 am to noon. Yes, a whole six hours!
To break it down for you, a lot the shows on Adult Swim, well they are based off "real" Saturday morning shows from the sixties and seventies. Oh ... check out Boomerang some time!
Okay let's see if I can do this? Play along at home if you like!
"Spiderman"
"H.R. Pufnstuf"
That damn "Life" cereal commercial ... "Hey Mikey! He Likes It!"
"Davey and Goliath"
"Time Bomb" ... okay I don't know that one. Any show that gives kids the idea that explosives are okay sounds irresponsible to me! That's the parent in me talking. I'm just mad that I didn't get to blow stuff up!
"Stratego"
"Casper"
"The Beatles"
"Atom Ant"
"Secret Squirrel"
"Top Cat"
"BASH!" ... a game that looks like you get to beat the crap out of some poor slob with a hammer! God I miss the days when mindless violence was cool.
"Electro-Shot Shooting Gallery" ... back when guns were cool! What has happened to us?
"Underdog" .. who can kick the ass of every one of those lame superheroes in the clip before it.
"Boggle"
"The Jetsons" .. okay I know you've heard of that one!
"King Kong" ... yep the big guy had a cartoon series that was made in Japan (See King Kong Escapes)
"Mystery Date" ... A meat market for young girls ... wanna know why you never live up to your girls expectations? Thank you Milton Bradley!!!
"The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour" ... the coolest intro (next to Johnny Quest) ever!! .. "Overture, curtain, lights! This is it. The night of nights. No more rehearsing or nursing a part. We know every part by heart!"
"Space Ghost"
Um ... a game where you overload a camel until his spine snaps ... again great idea!
"Magilla Gorilla"
Okay ... enough of that I have Attention Deficit Disorder so I can't keep that up for fifteen minutes!
You get the idea anyway just about everything that was ultra cool to us kids back in the late sixties and seventies condensed into one glob of images that makes us pine away for days gone bye and gives us the bragging rights over the younger generation who grew up with sub par programing.
(I'm laughing and pointing) Ha Ha!
Here are the words to the Bugs Bunny intro:
"The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour."
(curtain rises)
"Overture, curtain, lights!
This is it. The night of nights.
No more rehearsing or nursing a part.
We know every part by heart!
(cane flip)
Overture, curtain, lights!
This is it. We'll hit the heights!
And oh, what heights we'll hit!
On with the show, this is it!
(character procession)
Tonight what heights we'll hit!
On with the show, this is it!"
"Starring the Oscar-winning rabbit, Bugs Bunny."
"And also starring my fast-feathered friend, the Road Runner!"
(Road Runner zips forward on film projector screen)
"Beep, beep!"
"Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
That Coyote is really a crazy clown!
When will he learn that he never can slow him down?
Poor little Road Runner never bothers anyone.
Just running down the road is his idea of having fun!"
"Beep, beep!"
"The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour."
When will that Coyote ever learn?

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: "You Are In Front Of Me. If You Value Your Lives, Be Somewhere Else! "
Written By: Ken Hulsey
There were plenty of great sci fi and fantasy television shows in the 1990s including the "The X-Files", "Xena: Warrior Princess" and an seemingly endless parade of programs with the word "Trek" in the title. The one show that stood out amongst all of these top-notch programs was J. Michael Straczynski's five-year space war saga "Babylon 5". Many critics at the time took the show lightly but Straczynski's strong character driven stories kept me glued to my set episode after episode.
Yes ... "Babylon 5" was my sci fi soap opera.
Today's clip features one of the shows most dramatic and down right awesome scenes from the episode "Severed Dreams". To set things up for you if you never watched the show the space station Babylon 5 has broken away from the Earth Alliance because of attacks on Mars civilians ... okay the story is really too complicated to get into here, just understand that B5 has declared it's independence and a fleet of Earth Alliance cruisers have come to take the station back by force. There is an intense space battle in which the Earth forces overpower the fleet protecting the station, then just when everything seems lost Ambassador Delenn of the Minbari swoops in with her fleet to save the day!
"Only one human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari Fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else!"
Needless to say the Minbari are bad ass mofos and the Earth ships were wise to turn tale and run for home! If you followed the series then you know that fair skinned ones with a massive bone structure protruding out of the back of their skulsl kicked the crap out of us in war several years prior. In fact they almost brought our race to extinction but stopped just short of erasing us off the map.
Again ... a long and complicated story!
Are you keeping up? Okay maybe only a fan of the show can appreciate just how cool this scene was.
Trust me .... it's so friggin cool!

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: Dinosaur Wrangling Made Easy?
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Way back in 1969 the master special effects Ray Harryhausen created one of the most spectacular stop-motion animation shots for the movie "The Valley of Gwangi". To the casual viewer this sequence may not seem like a hard illusion to pull off but to those who know how the scene was achieved it stands as a true testament to hours of hard work and an amazing attention to detail.
Here is the problem that was presented to Harryhausen, "How do you get live action cowboy actors on horseback to lasso an Allosaurus model (Gwangi) that is only about a foot tall and make it look real?" The effect was achieved by having the actors actually lasso a pole that was the same height as a real Allosaurus that was mounted to the back of a Jeep. The jeep and pole when filmed with the miniature dinosaur are on a back rear projection plate and hidden by the body of the model, and the portions of rope attached to it's body are painted wires that are matched with the real ropes for each individual frame by Harryhausen using his keen eye looking through the camera's viewfinder to ensure everything lined up perfectly. The model of Gwangi also had to be manipulated to make it look like the horses and their human riders were reacting to the dinosaurs movements and not vice versa. Overall the five minute sequence took almost a month to complete via this process.

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: General "Buck" Turgidson (Dr. Strangelove 1964)
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Only a film maker like Stanley Kubrick could turn a subject like mutually assured nuclear destruction into one of the greatest black comedies of all-time called "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb". Okay maybe the idea of reducing the surface of the Earth to radioactive wasteland isn't all that funny but the cast of characters with their fingers on the shinny red button assembled by Kubrick are undoubtedly the greatest menagerie of kooks ever seen in any film.
The best performance in this sea of absolutely amazing performances (including Slim Pickens and Peter Sellers in multiple rolls) comes from none other than the normally very serious actor George C. Scott who plays the over-the-top American general "Buck" Turgisdon.
Imagine Scott as "Patton" ... okay now imagine Patton out out of his mind, horney and amped up on energy drinks and See's candy ... that's "Buck" Turgidson!
A little more info:
General Buck Turgidson is a rabid anti-communist American general that consults the President on how to deal with the crisis in Dr. Strangelove. It becomes rather apparent that Turgidson is not "all there" and more than a tad ignorant. Turgidson sees the escalating conflict leading to world destruction as a game and does not see the real impact of nuclear holocaust.

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: It's The Dance Craze Sweeping The Nation "The Lurch"
Written By: Ken Hulsey"You Rang?"
Hey there hipsters it's another Saturday night and you know what that means! It's time to get down and party like it's ... um ... 1965?
Hmmm .... maybe not? Anyway I have dug up an incredibly strange clip from 1965 for you this evening that stars everyones favorite butler turned dancing queen, Lurch from The Addams Family.
Apparently somebody over in the publicity department at ABC (The network that aired The Addams Family television program) decided that the show needed to reach out to a younger crowd so on Halloween night in 1965 actor Ted Cassidy was marched out onto the floor of the ultra-mod music program "Shindig!" to perform a new dance called "The Lurch". What would follow could be described as "surreal", "unsettling" and just plain strange.
Give this a look:
The Lurch (So you can sing along at home)
Lurch: (Gong) You Rang?
Singers: Hi, Lurch!
Lurch: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Singers: Hey, Lurch, we just heard the news around town
Lurch: Newwwwwwwws?
Singers: And we’re here to see what you’re putting down
Lurch: Ahhhhhhhhh ha-ha-ha!
Singers: We thought you might give us a chance
And teach us how to do the Lurch daaaance annnn-ance
Lurch: My pleasure
Singers: Hey, Lurch, teach us how to do the Lurch dance
Lurch: Your servant
Singers: Yeah, Lurch, we wanna learn to do the Lurch dance
Lurch: ……….Follow me
Lurch: Yah ah ah ah ahhh -ah ah ah ahh. It’s a brand new bag! Yeah!
Lurch: Yah ah ah ah. Don’t just stand there! Lurch!
Lurch: Ah ah aha. Good. Now you got it!
Singers: Hey, Lurch, thanks a lot for turning us on!
Lurch: You’re welcome!
Singers: To a dance that we can do to any song.
Lurch: Any time!
Singers: Now everybody, c’mon and do it
It’s easy and there's really nothing to it! oooooh
Lurch: Ah ah ah ah
Singers: Hey, Lurch, we’re really glad we learned to Lurch.
Lurch: To know it is to love it!
Singers: Hmm hmmm, we’re really glad we learned to Lurch.
Do the Lurch!
Lurch: Satisfaction, jubilation!
Singers: Hmm hmmm, we’re really glad we learned to Lurch.
Do the Lurch!
The fact that Cassidy just stands there throughout most the song leering at the young ladies dancing around him really kinda creeps me out and the dubbed in mumbled voice over lyrics by the actor doesn't help. Then again the way he starts dancing (if you can call it that) during the chorus is sorta cool ... in strange sort of way.
Singers: Hey, Lurch, thanks a lot for turning us on!
Lurch: You’re welcome!
Anyway you slice it the whole thing is just weird.
Of course an album was released by Capitol Records so little monsters and hipsters alike could "Lurch" around their far-out pads on their own time.
Unfortunately for ABC "The Lurch" never quite caught on like the "Mashed Potato" or "The Twist".
Damn, Chubby Checker milked that thing for decades didn't he!
If you can't get enough of Lurch strutting his stuff on the dance floor ... and who really could honestly? Check out this bonus clip from The Addams Family television program:
Here's some trivia from Wikipedia:
Lurch makes a momentary appearance in the Batman TV episode entitled "The Penguin's Nest" (1966), when he opens a window and sticks his head out and observes Batman and Robin climbing the wall to the Penguin's kitchen.

The Monstrous Movie Clip Of The Day: 2001: A Space Odyssey [HD] Docking Sequence
Source: Youtube
Without a doubt one of the most spectacular scenes from any science fiction film! In this sequence from "2001: A Space Odyssey" Film maker Stanley Kubrick combines the elegance of The Blue Danube waltz by Johann Strauss II with the work of an amazing special effects team that comprised NASA, science advisor Fred Ordway, production designer Harry Lange, and model maker Anthony Masters under the direction of Douglas Trumbull.
- Ken Hulsey
Quickly:
2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, and co-written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, partially inspired by Clarke's short story The Sentinel. The story deals with a series of encounters between humans and mysterious black monoliths that are apparently affecting human destiny, and a space voyage to Jupiter tracing a signal emitted by one such monolith found on the moon. Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood star as the two astronauts on this voyage, with Douglas Rain as the voice of the sentient computer HAL who "seems human" and has full control over their spaceship.
The Blue Danube is the common English title of An der schönen blauen Donau, Op. 314 (German for On the Beautiful Blue Danube), a waltz by the Austrian composer Johann Strauss II, composed in 1866. Originally performed 13 February 1867 at a concert of the Wiener Männergesangsverein (Vienna Men's Choral Association), it has been one of the most consistently popular pieces of music in the classical repertoire. Its initial performance was only a mild success however and Strauss is reputed to have said "The devil take the waltz, my only regret is for the coda—I wish that had been a success!"
Stanley Kubrick (July 26, 1928 – March 7, 1999) was an American film director, writer, producer, and photographer, who lived in England during most of the last four decades of his career. Kubrick was noted for the scrupulous care with which he chose his subjects, a slow method of working, the variety of genres he worked in, technical perfectionism, reluctance to talk about his films, and reclusiveness. He maintained almost complete artistic control, but with the rare advantage of big-studio financial support for all his endeavors.

Two Jet Fighters Chasing A UFO?
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Youtube
Anonymous videos like this pop up on Youtube all the time and with the level of computer generated special effects available to just about anyone these days it is hard to tell if a video like this is the real McCoy or a real pile of mule muffins?
There was no description or information of any kind posted with the video but according to a few sites I found ... allegedly... a hiker was enjoying a lakeside stroll, just filming the scenery, when the silence is broken by the sound of jets overhead. What happens next speaks for itself. Two jet fighters either chasing or escorting a UFO.
If it's a fake .... well it's pretty good!

Godzilla Loves Karaoke?
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Remember last week when I talked about movie monster astrological signs and deep emotional feelings?
Well if you really want to see what a typical day in Godzilla's life is like just watch the clip above. It's a classic Japanese TV commercial for a Hitachi VCR.
Who knew Godzilla road the train, shopped at an outdoor market and loves the karaoke? Gosh, he really is just like one of us!
I gotta stop finding this stuff and go to bed.
PEACE!
UFO Earth Base - Video Update 11/19/11
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Youtube
It has been a very long time since I posted anything about UFOs so I decided to go trolling through Youtube to see if I could find any decent video evidence. After about an hour or so I found two that seemed legit in a sea of obvious hoaxes and amateur CGI effects work.
The first is of a group of three lights shot during the daytime. Who shot the video? I don't know. Where was it filmed? I don't know.
Looks pretty legit though ...
This second video again comes from anonymous source but from the title of the clip I can ascertain that it was shot over Sacramento, Ca sometime this month (November 2011). I really like the movement of the object being filmed. I doubt that a plane would attempt such maneuvers over a town and helicopters don't fly like that.
What is it? Your guess is as good as mine.
Oh and since you've been very patient in regards to posts about UFOs I have another mysterious vid for you to think about. Bigfoot's head or another fake?

Compelling New Bigfoot Video AWOL For Now
Written By: Ken HulseySource: Bigfoot Evidence
I was hoping to begin today's postings with a brand new video of Bigfoot that reportedly is quite compelling, however that video has now been taken down.
As the story goes a life-long Bigfoot researcher named Larry Surface has been setting up his video camera in strategic locations where he believed the elusive creature had been lurking. Last week he got his money shot when allegedly the beast walked right in front of the camera. Here is a description of what happened from Larry's website "Bigfoot Evidence":
"Success at last!! After many months of patient waiting, I caught a Bigfoot on Video! Those who have followed my blog may remember that I said it would be necessary to use moon light without any infrared lighting, well that has been the case.
The star of the video however, did not follow the script. I expected him to come from the woods in the background, and had the focus set for about 50 yards. But he/she appeared suddenly right in front of the camera at 2 or 3 feet, and backlighted by the moon, both of which prevented a clear view of the face. And the resolution of this video is reduced to make a more manageable upload.
The subject passed in front of the camera and apparently peered around the corner where the cats are fed, either looking for cat food or a cat, then turned and went back the way it came.
The color of the body fur appears white in the video, but it may be a light brown or tan
highlighted by the moon light. I will attempt to do some follow up testing to determine what colors look like in the green night vision. Also will do some follow up photos to determine the size. But I get the impression that it is not very large.
Skeptics, don't bother to send me your claims of fakery, I won't waste my time arguing, if you don't believe, that is your problem. But I want to present this to the ones who have followed me and been supportive."
Apparently Sasquatch was ready for his closeup.
It was soon after that initial post that Surface took down the video in hopes of cleaning it up a bit:
"Sorry, I have to pull the video for now. But have patience, I will in the meantime get it enhanced as much as possible and it will come back better than ever."
Immediately after the video was pulled down the skeptics went on the war path posting remarks accusing Surface of trying to pull off a hoax. Apparently the comments really were very mean spirited, so much so in fact that the researcher has opted to keep his video to himself until the heat dies down:
"The critics have beaten me down. I guess they can celebrate now. But one of my lifetime goals has been achieved, I have gathered enough evidence to prove to myself that the "Wild Man"exists. That is in the form of track casts, audio files, dna, and a video sighting. My mistake was in trying to share it with everyone. Although the comments were 90% enthusiastically supportive, that changed when I pulled the video for reasons which will have to remain unspecified. After that, the pack used it as amunition to support their claims of fakery.
To one who has spent his life truthfully, and now in weak health, it is just too much to put up with. Life is too short.
The video will come out again when the time is right. I won't post anything else here. I may post on facebook where I can block out the ignorant.
Thanks again to all the supporters."
If Surface's video shows what he claims than the researcher may have the best video evidence of Sasquatch to surface since the famous Patterson footage was shot way back in 1967. It's too bad that he has let the words of a few skeptics influence his thinking and prevent the rest of us from getting a chance to view this new evidence and draw our own conclusions.
Is this new footage really Bigfoot? It will be impossible to know for sure and I'm not saying that it is or isn't. It could either be great new evidence or another of a long line of hoaxes. Hopefully someday Surface will change his mind and release his video so that we can forge our own opinion on it's validity.

Ogopogo Caught On Tape!

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Youtube
Vancouver native Richard Huls (no he's not a relative) got more than he bargained for this past weekend when he visited a winery on the shores of British Columbia's lake Lake Okanagan. Besides enjoying a little wine tasting he also managed to spot and film the lakes most famous and mysterious resident Ogopogo or Canada's Loch Ness Monster.
“It was not going with the waves," He told the Vancouver Sun. “It was not a wave, obviously, just a darker color. The size and the fact that they were not parallel with the waves made me think it had to be something else.”
Did Huls video a monster or just waves? You make the call:
History:
Ogopogo or Naitaka (Salish: n'ha-a-itk, "lake demon") is the name given to a cryptid lake monster reported to live in Okanagan Lake, in British Columbia, Canada. Ogopogo has been allegedly seen by First Nations people since the 19th century. The most common description of Ogopogo is a forty- to fifty-foot-long (12 to 15 m) sea serpent. It has supposedly been photographed and caught on tape.
In 1926 a sighting is claimed to have occurred at an Okanagan Mission beach. This event was supposedly witnessed by about thirty cars of people who all claimed to have seen the same thing. In 1968 Art Folden filmed what is claimed to be footage of the alleged creature, showing a large wake moving across the water. A computer analysis of the footage concluded it was a solid, three-dimensional object.
British cryptozoologist Karl Shuker has categorized the Ogopogo as a 'many hump' variety of lake monster, and suggested it may be a kind of primitive serpentine whale such as Basilosaurus. However, because the physical evidence for the beast is limited to unclear photographs and film, it has also been suggested that the sightings are misidentifications of common animals, such as otters, and inanimate objects, such as floating logs.
Think that's cool? Check out this other rather anonymous video of a sea monster that has surfaced on Youtube:

Old Bigfoot And Mothman Video Footage
Source: Monster Island News on Youtube
Rare Bigfoot and Mothman footage. In many cases old film footage of Sasquatch such as these have remained hidden in attics and closets for decades. Many people fearing ridicule never released them to the public.
The Abominable Snowman (aka The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas) is a 1957 British horror film, directed by Val Guest and starring Forrest Tucker and Peter Cushing. The film is based on The Creature, a BBC Television play by writer Nigel Kneale, and follows the exploits of an English anthropologist with an American expedition as they search the Himalayas for the legendary Yeti. Kneale adapted his own television script into the film screenplay. Cushing, along with several other members of the cast, had also starred in the original version (the role of Tom Friend in the television play was taken by Stanley Baker).
The film was produced by Hammer Film Productions and released on 26 August 1957 in the UK. It was subsequently released in the United States and throughout the world.

Star Wars Blu-ray Deleted Scenes Trailer
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Lisa Dullard / Youtube
Many years ago I wrote an article for the original Monster Island News about the infamous deleted scenes from "Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope". At that time the footage that was allocated to the cutting room floor had been seen very rarely and was mysteriously absent from both DVD and VHS releases of the original Star Wars trilogy. Likewise similar content from "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" had also been left out. These scenes included, but were not limited to, Biggs talking with Luke in Anchorhead, Wampas running amok in the Rebel Base on Hoth, and a Tatooine sandstorm in Jedi.
Now, after so many years, Lucasfilm has changed their mind about keeping these lost treasures ... well, "lost" .... and will include them in the upcoming Blu-ray release of the trilogy.
As a precursor to that Lucasfilm has put together a sweet little teaser with some of the scenes I mentioned to get all of us Star Wars nerds jazzed up and ready to empty our wallets at the local video store.
Here is an excerpt from my original article:
(Luke and Biggs from A New Hope)
The scene starts with a close up of Luke as he jumps from his landspeeder and climbs the stairs to the power station. Once inside we get our first look at Luke's friends. Fixer is seated behind a table with Camie on his lap. They are both asleep. Luke tosses something at them upon entering to wake them. Camie sits up with a attitude at being awoke. Lukes walks past them upon seeing his old friend Biggs has returned . Deek and Windy, two fellow farm boys are playing a type of mechanically-assisted pool with Biggs. Luke then remembers the battle he had just seen and urges them all outside. Deek and Windy don't want to leave their game.
Deek: Not again, forget it!
Windy: (angry at Biggs) Will you come back here and play the game?
Fixer: (Still waking up) What's all the noise about?
Camie: Looks like Wormie's caught too much sun.
They all exit the station and climb to the platform that surrounds the generator room. They all begin to survey the sky. Biggs soon decides that there is nothing really to see. Camie grabs the binoculars from Luke to see for herself. Luke protests and Fixer attempts to start to protect her. While Camie scans the sky Biggs gives Luke some advice.
Biggs: I tell you Luke, the Rebellion's a long way away from here. This planet? A big hunk of nothing.
Fixer: (not really caring about the space battle and not being able to take his eyes off Camie) I doubt the Empire would Evan fight to save the system.
They all head back into the station and Camie carelessly tosses Luke back his binoculars causing him to almost drop them.
Luke: Hey! Will you watch it?"
The scene ends with Luke alone outside looking at the sky as if he really saw anything.
The final sequence of the lost footage is a conversation between Biggs and Luke as they exit the power station. The two are holding cups of what is refereed to as "Malt Brew." It is at this point Biggs tells Luke of his secret plan to leave the Academy and join the Rebellion. Luke is over-whelmed by the news and left almost speechless. Luke admits that he has canceled his application to the Academy to help Uncle Owen with his farm. It is easy to see why Luke looks up to Biggs because he is living the life that he can only dream of. The two part with a handshake and Biggs leaves to find his destiny while Luke can only watch and yearn for a life of adventure.

New Japanese GODZILLA Video And Manga Bonanza!
Written By: Ken HulseySource: Youtube / Godzilla Gao
You really have to give these (unknown) Japanese Godzilla fans alot of credit. Not only have they built an exact replica of the Godzilla suit from "Mothra vs Godzilla" (Godzilla vs The Thing) but they also run a very cool G site called "Godzilla Gao" and ink a very cool G themed manga (comic) called "Monster's Territory".
Wew! That's some real devotion to the "King of Monsters" there.
Now their website is all in Japanese so I really couldn't find out very much about them, but from what English text the group posted along with their latest video, which is great by the way, I gather that they have been working on their Godzilla suit for 11 years.
11 years!
Well from the video it looks like it's completed and it looks really spot on to the one worn by Haruo Nakajima in the film. The group has also created a really cool King Ghidorah puppet for Big G to interact with.
My advice. Legendary Pictures outta give these guys a look up.
I'm just saying.
Here is the video, plus some older ones of the Godzilla suit being worked on:
Here are a couple of pages from "Monster's Territory":

The Flintstones Say "Smoke Em If Ya Got Em Kids"
Written By: Ken HulseyCartoon characters smoking? WTF!
It is hard to fathom that a cigarette company would use cartoon characters to sell it's product to children, but that is exactly what Winston Cigarettes did back in the early 1960's.
During the original run of The Flinstones the show was sponsored by several different companies, one of them Winston Cigarettes. To showcase the sponsor's products Hanna-Barbera (the animation company that produced The Flintstones) produced several add spots featuring their beloved characters using the products ..... even smoking cigarettes.
Today such a advertising campaign would be strictly taboo .... but back in 1961 nobody thought twice about it and the adds aired on prime-time television for the whole family, including youngsters, to see. It is pretty damn obvious that these adds, though made for adults (The Flintstones, though animated, was considered adult viewing), were really designed to get kids to take up smoking.
Screw you Joe Camel .... we got Fred and Barney!
I actually think that there was an add with The Great Gazoo reading a Playboy and drinking Coors beer ..... but I may be mistaken.
All jokes aside these adds did air at the end of every episode of The Flintstones back in the day.
Here are an example of some of these commercials:
There are just soooo many things that are not PC about this one! "Hey Barney let's sit on our fat prehistoric butts while the women folk do all the hard work .....". Forget the fact that they are smoking for a minute and think about how much of an uproar there would be today for Betty and Wilma being portrayed as female servants to their male husbands alone.
You've come a long way baby!
This is the kinda stuff that you will never see on Boomerang!
Okay, the last one is a Jelly add .... which would be okay .... except for the fact that it promotes obesity in children. Which is now a big no-no! In fact Fred and Barney are a bit on the heavy side so maybe the whole show should be banned?
Sounds crazy right?
You never know? Things are getting kinda weird around Washington.
Just saying ....

Does A New Video From Alaska Show Bigfoot?
Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Cryptomundo
I'm sorry that I haven't posted very many stories from the world of Cryptozoology lately, but my time to concentrate on the topic has been limited due to all the new movie news coming out lately.
This one really grabbed my attention though, and I really wanted to spend a couple of minutes on it.
The video above seems to show what looks like a Bigfoot moving very quickly through the woods. We don't get a very good look at the object that moves from left to right in the sequence, but it appears to be walking on two legs and covered with brown shaggy fur. If you look real close, the animal, or whatever it is, kinda looks like the Sasquatch from the infamous Roger Patterson film, but then again that is a stretch.
I think that my mind may be filling in the gaps here.
The voices that we here during the clip do sound genuinely scared/freaked out by the encounter so that may add some credibility to the clip but it's hard to say for sure.
Here is the account of the sighting from the eyewitness (putua76):
"I was on a logging road in Ketchikan hiking with my friend when I saw it! Boy did my heart start racing!! It was about 40 yards from the road! Not sure if it knew I was there or not, because the noise of flowing water from the stream. It seemed to travel fast! It made my hair stand up!! At one point you can see a whitish yellowish thing in it's hand! I believe it was skunk cabbage. Not sure, but it is in bloom.
You see it jump and after that point it just seems to disappear. There was a lot of brush and trees between it and I, I could not tell where it had gone. It was a scary sort of exciting feeling at the same time!! We went to search for tracks but the river bed where we thought it was walking was full of perfect skiping rocks, we found no prints! If there is a BigFoot, Sasquatch, or Kushtaka I swear I saw him!!"
Overall, the fact that we see very little of the alleged Sasquatch makes it hard to tell whether what we are truly witnessing is the real deal or a hoax?
Regardless, it's a pretty damn cool video!
UPDATE!
This may be the quickest update in the history of MIN!
I just found an "enhanced" version of the clip on Youtube.
Even "enhanced" it's just too hard to tell if it's Sasquatch, a bear, a hunter or crazy uncle Jeb running around out there.
