New Legendary Pictures GODZILLA Design To Be Revealed At Comic Con?

Though it doesn't appear on any of the San Diego Comic Con propaganda, it appears that "Legendary Pictures" has released the first image from their upcoming "Godzilla' movie at the convention and there will reportedly be a presentation that goes along with it.

Here is a press release from Talking Dog Studios about the event:

When Warner Brothers affiliate Legendary Pictures – responsible for such critically acclaimed films as Inception, Where the Wild Things Are, The Dark Knight, 300, and Watchmen – wanted to use Augmented Reality to announce their latest film, they turned to Saskatchewan’s Talking Dog Studios to provide them with the technology to do so.

This week, Legendary Pictures is at San Diego’s Comic-Con International, the world’s biggest comics and pop culture convention, celebrating the beginning of production on their next film: “Godzilla”. Persons attending the conference will receive a t-shirt with an image of the new Godzilla, and when they look at themselves in a webcam at the Legendary Pictures tradeshow booth, they’ll see a superimposed animation of Godzilla’s “atomic breath” shooting out into the air in front of them from Godzilla’s mouth, complete with black smoke rising from the flames and the ground-shaking bellow of Godzilla’s instantly recognizable roar.

This immersive experience was designed by Talking Dog Studios, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and was supervised by Larry Monte of California’s Corporate Images. Talking Dog have been developing various AR applications for the past year, but owner Rob Bryanton sees this as a major step forward: “Augmented Reality is very open-ended, which is great because the possibilities are so wide, but it’s something that is best experienced rather than described,” says Bryanton. “With the Godzilla installation, we were able to quickly create something that our clients were immediately happy with, so we see this as a great recognition of the skillset that we’ve now developed”.

This comes at great surprise to yours truly, who visited the "Legendary Pictures" booth on Friday and saw absolutely zero items about "Godzilla" on display there.

A search of the Comic Con website reveals no such presentation by Legendary Pictures on "Godzilla" listed.

Maybe this was added today or will be added on Sunday, perhapse it was cancelled, regardless the Talking Dog Studios website has this image of the new "Godzilla", which I really love.

Why hello there lovers!

It's been a pretty epic week in the humble life of this retail assistant - orthodontist appointments, catching up on work from my own store after being away, helping out with the opening day of Trade Secret Toowoomba, sheesh! Arkansas Family Builds Ultimate GODZILLA Suit

When Legendary Pictures goes out to try and find someone to create a Godzilla suit for the upcoming film, they may not have to look in Japan, but in rural Arkansas instead.

Indeed the Baker family, father Rick and his two sons Rock and Kyle, have already created a great looking Godzilla costume that is ready for filming.

The Bakers estimate that they have invested about 200 hours and some $600 on creating what they consider to be the ultimate Godzilla suit, which is an combination of several of the monster's designs from it's 50 plus year film career.

Working day and night in the garage of their Hilltop Upholstery business in St. Joe, Arkansas the Baker boys turned rubber and plastic into a monster movie icon, which for the three men, was a true labor of love. Rick Baker is a self-described old fashioned horror movie buff, while his son Rock is an aspiring comic book artist.

Yet, it was brother Kyle who got the first opportunity to try on the Godzilla suit, which featured a fan in the head and pouches in the back for ice to keep the wearer nice and cool. But the sophistication of this Godzilla costume didn't just stop there, the melting ice from the internal pockets is also circulated throughout the suit via a complex tubing system. This Godzilla also features realistic looking eyes which can be moved by remote control.

As Kyle put the monster through it's paces he turned the head of more than few passers by on US highway 65 that runs adjacent to the makeshift monster studio that also doubles as an upholstery business.

Though the suit weighs some 75 pounds and has a rather lengthy tail attached, Kyle Baker had little trouble taking Godzilla for a test drive.

"I can actually feel it push against me," he said, "but I don't really feel the weight. It's so well balanced."

Though Legendary Pictures is presently developing a new American Godzilla movie, the Bakers believe that their best chance to break into the monster suite business will not come from Hollywood, where CGI effects now have become the standard, but in Japan, where the art of suit acting is still practiced.

To show of their skill, the Baker family packed up their monster and headed to Chicago for the annual "G-Fest" convention. It was their hope that since so many Japanese film industry types would be in attendance, they may get the opportunity to impress them and possibly land an opportunity overseas.

Yet there may still be hope for a job here in America, if Legendary Pictures listens to the Godzilla fan community and opts to combine the classic Godzilla suit acting with computer graphics for their film.

Will it happen? Only time will tell, but with any luck the Baker's will be able to crush miniature cities with their creation here in America rather than overseas.

A Dose of Style - Shiloh Jolie-Pitt

Hello there lovelies,

You're probably already aware that I often take style inspiration from strange places. Rest assured, my newest inspiration is no different. Lately I'm really digging the style of young Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. That's right. I couldn't care less for all the media blather about "is Angelina turning Shiloh into a boy??!!!111!!". First of all, it's none of your business. Second of all, I think you're just jealous of someone discovering how to totally rock androgyny at such a tender age. Onwards!

Don't you just wish that you could accessorise with a sword? You totally do. But see, Shiloh here knows that it is possible to look way cute while wearing a trilby, vest and camo print.

First up, look at that smile and imitate it. Second of all, cutest outfit & haircut ever!

Keeping warm, and looking awesome! Beanies and layers and neutrals, oh my! Also I'm pretty sure there is a bow tie involved. GOLDEN.

Look out Angelina, I may just kidnap your child. Seriously, I don't mean that. I don't want a SWAT team bursting in my window. I love Shiloh's affinity for neutrals and blazers.

In conclusion, haters gonna back up off her, and let the girl do her thing! I think it is great that such a young person has such a defined sense of style. And again, seriously, why is it anyones business if a little girl wants to wear some boyish clothes? I wanted to wear frilly princess dresses all the time when I was little, and look how I turned out. I believe I make an excellent point.

Tim Burton On For MONSTERPOCALYPSE - Still In Line For GODZILLA? - More Film Details!

Last May it was announced that Disney / Dreamworks had signed on John August to write a big screen adaptation of the giant monster game, "Monsterpocalypse" from Privateer Press. Along with that news came a lot of speculation that Tim Burton would soon follow as a director for the film, due in large part his long history of collaborating with the writer, mostly on Disney backed projects.
Well today it has been confirmed by producer Roy Lee, via an interview with the Slashfilm website, that indeed Burton is developing "Monsterpocalypse" along with August and Matt Wilson of Privateer Press who is serving as a co-producer. According to the interview, the later two are presently banging out a script as we speak.

Lee would go on to do more than just confirm Burton's involvement with the film, he would also reveal many of the plot points in "Monsterpocalypse" as well.

According to Lee, "The general take on the film that I can give you is that the giant monsters come to earth and start wreaking havoc. The humans, at this point, fight back. And they feel like they’ve destroyed them, but they quickly learn that the monsters that come had actually not died and just sort of burrowed underground and are sending some sort of signal into space. Apparently, it is probably going to be a distress signal. So the humans know that something is going to be coming, they just don’t know what yet. And they know how big these monsters can be. Then it cuts to many years later when nothing has come back, but the humans have prepared for possible monsters coming back. And by this time, they have developed these giant robots that will fight the monsters when they come. That is what is going to take place. But most of the movie is going to be during that battle between the giant robots and the giant monsters."

Lee also lets it slip that Burton was in line to direct the upcoming "Godzilla" movie for Legendary Pictures, which he is also serving as a producer for.

Peter (SlashFilm): Wow. I had heard rumors that Tim Burton was considering directing “Godzilla” for Legendary, which you are also producing.

Roy: I’m producing.

Peter: Did he choose this over that, or…?

Roy: I can’t really talk about that, just because Warner Brothers is not going to be very happy with me.

I think that we can all read between the lines there, either Burton is still on board for "Godzilla", which would make a lot of fans very happy, or he opted to pass on the money from Legendary Pictures for Disney dollars.

The producer also mentioned that though "Voltron" is part of the "Monsterpocalypse" board game, Burton and company opted to leave the iconic giant robot out of the film, "
The company that owns Voltron approached us, Matt Wilson, to be able to utilize the robots for the world of "Monsterpocalypse". But we are not using anything from there in the movie, because a lot of the robots and monsters will be created by Tim himself and the cast."

In fact Burton will be developing the giant monsters and robots for the film alongside four time Academy Award winning effects man Ken Ralston who has worked on such films as the "Back to the Future" series, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and the "Star Wars" trilogy.

Other items of interest from the interview include the fact that the film will be shot in 3D, of course, and that it is presently slated for a late 2012 release.

I don't know about you, but this sounds just awesome to me! The plot sounds great and the involvement of Burton pretty much seals the deal!

I just can't wait to see how Burton tackles a giant monster film!
