About five days ago the official video for "Dirtee Cash" showed up on Vimeo ... and while it's pretty good, I think Dizzee's live performance on the BBC1 Live Lounge Tour overshadows the studio version of this single. I'm not sure if this track will follow in the string of number one songs Dizzee has dropped this year, but both versions are worth a listen. Compare and contrast.
I posted up a video of Dizzee Rascal's "Holiday" a hot minute ago. Then XL (or some other fussy goober) got a wee bit angry and had the video taken off of YouTube. Boo. Hoo. The video's nothing special, but jeez - the song is remarkable and the ladies are splendid.
And then there's this Taylor Swift disaster and a half that I somehow missed until now. Yea, I get it. Parody of "Love Story." Blah, blah, blah, whatever. But if you're gonna poke fun (whether it's at yourself or another) and it's gonna be very much in the public eye (as most things involving T-Pain are), at least take the time to make it both a) funny and b) well put together. Yeesh.
Sorry for hating. EDIT: It's pretty great that two-thirds of the videos I post get taken off of YouTube, right?
Listening to "Ready for the Weekend" on repeat as I studied for my economics midterm put me in a no-nonsense Calvin Harris mood. (That said, I'm more or less in a perpetual Calvin Harris mood.) So when I realized that I hadn't yet posted his remix of Katy Perry's "Waking Up in Vegas," my fingers went to tapping and typing. Love Katy (the above picture is one of my favorite things on the face of the earth), love Calvin, and the combination almost made me weep with joy.
But of course two C.H. tracks in a row simply isn't enough. Thus, "Holiday." Dizzee and Calvin did a great job on "Dance Wiv Me," and I might like this cut even more (maybe, just maybe). The cut didn't really make a strong impression on me the first time I heard it, but it's since become a favorite. So good, blah, blah, blah. Check it:

EDIT: Second video got removed. Replaced it, but it's mad quiet. Deal with it - turn up your volume. EDIT 2: O.K. Looks like we're gonna have to wait a second to get a video with the latter track. Sorry, kids.
We all knew Dizzee Rascal + Armand van Helden was gonna be a good look. However, I didn't know I'd ride for "Bonkers" this hard. Something about Dizzee's urgency over Armand's fuzzy instrumentals just kills me. Don't really know what to think of the video just yet, but at least enjoy the song:
And then there's Soulja Boy. (Haters: leave now, please.) Though I'm pretty sure Way doesn't rhyme once on "Turn My Swag On" (I guess "I put my team on, get my things on" is kinda close to a slant rhyme), I love it. Certified club hit, no joke. And the video. Oh, the video. Blowing your nose with money, putting on four or five chains, riding Vespas, etc. Welcome to the good life, Mr. Tell 'Em.
