For today's main event we have two titan's of interstellar combat!
In this corner, wearing a metallic tunic and utility belt, with slow reflexes, a bad temper and a speech impediment ... THE GORN!!!!
And in this corner, wearing a yellow Starfleet uniform and pants that are tighter than they should be, with an overactive libido, huge ego ... and a speech impediment ... Captain Kirk!!!!

An era has come to an end.

An era has come to an end.
Dallas News.com reports:
Leonard Nimoy attended what he says was his last Star Trek convention Sunday in Rosemont, Ill. The 80-year-old, best-known for playing Mr. Spock in the original TV series, formed four fingers into a V for Vulcan sign and intoned Spock’s most famous phrase: “Live long and prosper."
However, the Fox News.com's blurb on the Nimoy story has his Trek character slightly wrong:

Dr. Spock was a famous baby doctor who died years ago.

Okay All You Trekkies At Comic Con! It's Time To Rage Against The Federation!
Written By: Ken HulseyMusic and Lyrics By: Warp 11
Hey all my Trek loving brothers and sisters at Comic Con! This one goes out to you! Have fun, geek it up and have some blood wine on me!
Oh .... and may the Force be with all the Star Wars fans as well!
Now ... let's rock. This is for every die-hard nerd-bot in San Diego:
RAGE AGAINST THE FEDERATION
To boldly go - don’t you see?
Is just a ploy - it’s a f****** conspiracy
The final frontier
Is just a lie that kills thousands every year
‘Cause you and me - don’t you see
Brainwashed at the f****** academy
This red shirt - I’ll say it loud
It ain’t nothing but a f****** death shroud
The Red Shirts are dying
The Red Shirts are dying
The Red Shirts are dying
The Red Shirts are dying
We beam down, but not back
Before the break we were under attack
“Forward!” Captain cried from the rear and the front rank died
We get the orders - we make it so
We live fast but we don’t die slow
Our bones are crushed - our blood is spilled
The prime directive is to f****** get us…
The Red Shirts are dying
I ain’t lying
What they sellin’ you buying
While the Captain’s satisfying
His itch in a ditch with some green skinned b****
And the federation grows increasingly rich
I woke up
I went up
To where the captain’s gettin’ intimate
I showed up
I strolled up
I looked at him like I don’t give a s***
He looked up
His d*** up
But it fell before my scrutiny
He stood up
He f***** up
He didn’t know it was a mutiny
Mutiny!
So we breathe our last breath
Beamed into space or choked to death
A phaser blast, a Klingon assault
Drained of blood and drained of salt
Bat’leth, poison spores
While the captain gets laid by alien whores
Our essence, understand
Distilled in a shape and crushed in a hand

IDW To Launch New Star Trek Comic Series In September
Source: IDW PublishingClassic Star Trek: The Original Series episodes reimagined in the new universe
The Star Trek universe will never be the same following the events of the game-changing, blockbuster 2009 film. Beginning with STAR TREK #1 in September, IDW Publishing and CBS Consumer Products join forces with Star Trek writer/producer Roberto Orci to explore the vast implications of the alternate timeline created by the film in a new, monthly, ongoing comics series.
"Movies cost money. Lots and lots of money," said Orci. "But comics give us unlimited budgets to take the crew of the Enterprise farther than they've ever been. Join us!"
The adventures of the Starship Enterprise continue with the new cast from the film as they embark on missions that re-imagine the stories from the original television series, along with new threats and characters never seen before.
Under the creative direction of Orci, fan-favorite STAR TREK writer Mike Johnson and artist Stephen Molnar bring this alternate universe to life and begin the countdown to the highly anticipated Star Trek sequel. The series kicks off with a dramatic new envisioning of The Original Series second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before."
"Finally, new STAR TREK comics that showcase the new Enterprise crew," said editor Scott Dunbier. "The only thing more fun than reading them is editing them!"
STAR TREK #1 will feature covers from Tim Bradstreet and David Messina, plus four rare photo covers. Readers are encouraged to talk to their local retailer about the photo covers, and the super rare STAR TREK #1 signed by Orci and Johnson. The debut issue will also feature a golden ticket promotion, with more details to come shortly from IDW.
STAR TREK #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in stores in September 2011. Diamond order code JUN11 0308.

Your iPad, iPhone And iPod Touch Are About To Become Infested
Source: IDW PublishingIDW Publishing is pleased to announce the release of INFESTATION comics to Apple iOS users. Available as both a stand-alone app and within the IDW Comics storefront, readers can now enjoy the entire INFESTATION crossover event on their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
INFESTATION is the hit comic series that infects the TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek universes with legions of undead. This dimension-spanning storyline begins with a specially priced 40-page story by writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (The Thanos Imperative), and artist David Messina (True Blood). Something goes horribly awry in IDW's Zombies vs Robots universe, threatening to tear some of pop culture's biggest realities asunder. This unparalleled, never-before-seen event is now available digitally through the Apple App Store. The INFESTATION Comics app is made for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Readers can view full size pages, or read panel-by-panel simply by turning the iPhone or iPod touch horizontally.
"We're excited to bring out INFESTATION as a stand-alone comics app," stated Jeff Webber, IDW's director of ePublishing. "While all of the issues are also available in our IDW Comics app for our regular readers, creating a stand-alone INFESTATION Comics app allows us to introduce the whole event to fans of the individual brands. This way, casual readers of TRANSFORMERS, Star Trek, G.I. JOE and Ghostbusters digital comics can see what this big comics cross-over event is all about!"
IDW's INFESTATION app includes free digital-only versions of the preview edition, an issue checklist, a cover gallery and character designs. Readers will also be able to get the 40-page kick-off story, INFESTATION #1, for only $0.99. New issues of the series will be added over the course of March and April, culminating in the grande finale and a special TOP SECRET digital-only cross over.
"This will be one huge surprise for comic fans everywhere," added Webber. "All we can say right now is, bring a life vest!"

It's Kirk And Spock vs Zombies in STAR TREK: INFESTATION
Written By: Ken HulseySource: StarTrek.com
It seems that zombies are everywhere these days and the comic book publisher IDW has let the undead critters run rampant through their titles for the month of February. They have even sent them into deep space to tangle with the beloved crew of the Starship Enterprise.
Yes Kirk, Spock, Bones and the gang will be up to their tribbles in zombies in "Star Trek: Infestation" a two-part spin-off series. According to IDW "Infestation" will put the movie era Enterprise crew into a darker realm then they have ever been before, fighting off hordes of the undead.
"Star Trek: Infestation" is written by David and Scott Tipton and features art by Casey Maloney. In true comic book marketing form, the first issue will feature four different covers by John K. Snyder III, Jason Wright, Casey Maloney, Gary Erskine, Luis Antonio Delgado, Gabriel Rodriguez and Gordon Purcell.
The 32-page book is scheduled to be released on Wednesday (February 9th) and will set you back $3.99 .... that is unless you have to have all four covers then that's a little under $12.
Fear not zombie fans, the undead are also causing mayhem in the IDW comics G.I. Joe, Transformers and Ghostbusters in February as well.
