Hello there lovelies,
Once again, my weekend is being thwarted by sickness. Apparently I have some kind of nasty viral infection/flu in my system, so that makes everything fun! Yet again, I'm running late with my links - unfortunately due to spending a good portion of the weekend making great friends with my toilet. I'm feeling a fair bit better today, but still hanging out at home. I'm getting pretty bored with not being able to really "do" anything. So, it is pretty lucky that I have a book full of logic puzzles, and your lovely blogs to read. Here's some stuff I've enjoyed this week:
An Open Letter To Beloved Academy Award Winning Hollywood Actress Natalie Portman, from the caring people at Death Star PR. Utterly hilarious.
Blogger Beautiful? An Examination Of What It Means To Be Beautiful & Valuable In Fashion Blogging is an interesting article from Gala Darling looking at the popularity of particular types of bloggers.
Continuing from Gala's first post, I love all the things that other bloggers had to say about body image in the blogosphere. (And part two).
Defying The Critics (And Why You Might Not Be Telling Other People About Your Blog) - more wise & fantastic words from Corrine of Frock & Roll about (essentially) letting the haters hate.
In Defense of Bodies is another great post on the topic of body image, weight & food.
What I Actually Wore is a great reminder that not everyone in the world is styled like they stepped out of the pages of a magazine.
Love this amazing robot-print dress!
Real Lives of Superheroes is an incredible collection of images of "superheroes" doing everyday things.
Hats off to this great commentary on the tendency of mainstream media to use incredibly gorgeous women to play "ugly" characters.
Will The Real Me Please Speak Up? is a very interesting way to conceptualize negative self-talk.
Cat Vs. Human. If you have cats, then the hilarious truth of this comic will be self-evident.
I love this little vlog, from Meredith of one sheepish girl (a new discovery for me!) on her new "blogging for confidence" series.
Blogging for Confidence from Meredith Crawford on Vimeo.
If you want to get on board, head to Meredith's blog & pick up a button!
Well, I hope you're all in better health & higher spirits that I am right now. Happy reading!
Until next time, xo.
