If anybody from Legendary Pictures or Warner Bros. is reading this? Take a good long look at the image to the left.
Now that's what Godzilla is supposed to look like!
Now, before anybody gets the wrong idea, this is not the new Godzilla design for the American "Godzilla 2012" movie.
It is graphic artist Todd Tennant's concept of what the Godzilla would have, or should have, looked like in Tristar's unmade "Godzilla 1994" film.
You know, the one that the studio passed on to make Roland Emmerich's "GINO 98" mess instead.
Yes, I know, it's a shame.
But fear not, Todd has been working on a "Godzilla 94" online comic for the past few years, and let me say, it is pretty spectacular!
Taken straight from writers, Rossio and Elliott's unused script, Todd's "G94" work paints a very vivid picture of af a great Godzilla movie that, unfortunately, will never be produced.
At present Todd has gotten to the best action sequences from the project, where Godzilla has risen out of San Francisco bay and is taking on the military.
Pretty damn cool stuff!
With a lot of talk being bantered about, mostly by yours truly, about the possibility of San Francisco being used as a local for "Godzilla 2012", Todd's latest work may be a preview of things to come.
That is if Legendary Pictures opts to use the city in their film. If not, then the citizens of the Bay Area can rest easy, your city only gets trampled in comic book form.
If you are a comic book fan, a Godzilla fan, or both, then you need to give Todd's "G94" online comic a look see.
Go To Godzilla 1994
But wait....there's more...
Todd Tennant did such a good job on Washington based comic book publisher, Blue Water Productions, "It Came From Beneath the Sea......Again!", based on the 1955 Columbia Pictures movie, "It Came from Beneath the Sea", which was produced by Charles Schneer and featured the stop-motion effects work of Ray Harryhausen, that they are trying to get the rights to publish "G94".
That's right, Blue Water, is trying to contact Toho to secure the rights to publish a "Godzilla 1994" comic.
But, things have been moving slowly on that front.
Todd explains, "I think it's probably due to the upcoming new Legendary GODZILLA 'reboot', but he (Darren Davis of Blue Water Productions) seems to be having trouble getting through to Toho. Hopefully Toho (and Legendary) will realize that the added publicity of a G'94 graphic novel would help bring attention to their new movie if nothing else. We're trying our best, and if it's meant to happen, it will happen. We'll see..."
I think that I echo every fan's feelings when I say that a "Godzilla 94" graphic novel, produced by Todd and Blue Water would absolutely friggin rule!
Let's keep our fingers crossed on that one.
Regardless of whether "G94" gets the green light or not, Todd's great artwork from "It Came From Beneath the Sea....Again!" will be featured in a new graphic novel from Blue Water, due out this August.
