Finally An Update On DINOSAURS UNLEASHED

Way back in March of last year I posted a story about an interesting independent dinosaur/horror movie called "Dinosaurs Unleashed" that was to begin production in Texas under the direction of Phil Nichols for Poison Apple Films. Now, almost a year later, the film has officially entered into the pre-production phase.

The film, which is now titled "Project Pangea: Dinosaurs Unleashed", has been kicked into high gear by PAF as this press release will reveal:

From the team that brought you Renfield: The Undead and S.I.C.K. Serial Insane Clown Killer comes a sci-fi horror movie with the flavor of the Carnosaur movies, Lake Placid, and Ssssssss. Poison Apple Films presents PROJECT PANGEA: DINOSAURS UNLEASHED!

It was written by Melissa Nichols and will be directed by Phil Nichols, both of whom are also producing along with Bob Willems. Dinosaur and special make-up effects will be handled by Nichols and his Facades FX Make-up Lab. The film's music will be composed by Jeffrey Walton.

"There’s trouble in Paradise…" Paradise, Texas, that is. A small town sheriff and his deputy try to solve an outbreak of missing persons reports while keeping the status quo in their quiet rural community. Their investigation leads them to some strange and bizarre discoveries; among them, a secret lab where a mad professor is cooking up biohazards of Jurassic proportions!

Casting has begun, many of whom are veterans from Renfield: The Undead. You can also expect some industry veterans in cameo roles.

The filmmakers are shooting for a late 2011/early 2012 release date.

If the film makers are looking for a late 2011 release date, then they had better get a move on.

Here is a synopsis of the film's plot:

Trancetown College is a small institution facing financial hardships. This the collapse in the economy, funding is in danger of being cut for many programs on campus, and are hitting hard in every department. The Track Team, once the pride of Transtown College has not won a meet in three years, and school spirit is at an all time low. As a result, Coach Bloward's job is on the line, and he must win at all costs.

In the science program, cut backs are being felt there as well, much to the dismay of the eccentric Professor Hildegard Henbeak.

Together, Professor Henbeak and Coach Bloward forge a plan to save their jobs and serve her darker, secret purpose: to create an army of mutant dinosaurs and take over the world.

Dr. Steve Richards, with the help of his colleague, Dr. Leslie Harris, race against time to save the human race from Henbeak's demented plot.

Ah it's nice to see scientists being portrayed as crazy misfits bent on world destruction again .....
