Continuing on this weeks inspiration spree I am really digging My Chemical Romance's latest album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. This is the part where I have to admit that I have loved everything that My Chemical Romance has ever done. Yes, including The Black Parade. No, not joking. Alright, now that we've covered that little speedbump, lets move on. That's right, we were talking about Danger Days.
"The album's concept is based around the lives of the "Fabulous Killjoys", in the setting of California in the year 2019. The band's alter-egos are the four Killjoys: "Party Poison", "Jet-Star", "Fun Ghoul", and "Kobra Kid". The Killjoys are a group of outlaws who are fighting against the evil corporation Better Living Industries (BL/ind.). The character aliases are the names of their "designer" guns. Their guide is the pirate radio DJ named Dr. Death Defying who is voiced by Steve Montano." - Wikipedia.
I am not only loving the music of this album, but the film clips, and the costumes of the Killjoys.
Gerard Way/Party Poison. Firstly, props for coordinating the hair with the accents on the jacket. These jackets are amazing! In the film clips you can see that they actually have additional detailing on the back. I also love the little details, like the bracelets, the fingerless gloves, and the embellishment on the jeans.
Mikey Way/Kobra Kid. The sunglasses are epic, and I can imagine Kobra Kid being the one who fires off witty, profane one-liners in the middle of battles. And then afterwards he could go out to dinner in his amazing jacket.
Ray Toro/Jet-Star. For some reason I imagine this guy being some kind of explosives expert. I think it has to do with the layered, but still interesting black ensemble. And the dark glasses. He's got to be hiding something under there right?
Frank Lero/Fun Ghoul. This is my favourite look of all. I just love the way the colours come together - the khaki vest with the khaki belt, and the yellow shirt with the yellow patch on the vest. It is just perfect.
When you watch the film clips you see even more elements of the characters come together. "Na Na Na" features some pretty amazing masks and helmets, but I think "Sing" gives you the best look at the jackets? Anyway, the film clips are both interesting and well worth a watch. Watch "Na Na Na" first - it's the beginning of the story.
So, are there any other MCR fans out there in the woodwork? What do you think of Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys? Do you have bigger inspiration fish to fry?
Until next time, xo.
P.S. If you want to meet a blogger who is a bigger MCR fan than I am, head over to The Sewing Pixie. She DIY's, once dressed up as Gerard Way, and just generally rocks. What's not to like?
