Baby It's Cold Outside Pt 1

Hello there lovelies,

If you've been stalking me for a while you might know that my favourite season is in fact Winter. I love the cold weather. I'm already counting down the days, and relishing that little bit of a cool twinge in the air. I'm quite ecstatic that I've already had to pull out my blankets for nighttime (even if the temperature is still hitting the mid-thirties during the day). I'm already living in anticipation of days spent wrapped up in blankets on the couch reading books with a cup of hot chocolate in hand. And so, I spend the days dreaming of my Winter wardrobe that is packed away & of all the wonderous Winter things I am yet to find. This is the first part of my Winter wishlist.

Winter Wishlist: Patterned Sweaters

I do love a good sweater. Good sweaters are the stuff that warm, snuggly dreams are made of. I love big, thick, chunky cableknit sweaters. I love kitsch printed sweaters, preferably handknitted by some eccentric member of the family. I love cute cropped sweaters. I love huge, oversized sweaters that hang to my knees & eclipse my hands with their long arms. I love scratchy sweaters, and sweaters that are so soft that you stand still in the shops to run them through your hands. This year must finally be the one where I come across the perfect "ugly", old man sweater - preferably with some kind of demonic teddy bear, squirrel or owl print.

Winter Wishlist: Colors & Prints

A new addition to the Winter must-have list this year - brightly coloured & printed pants. It makes me incredibly excited that colour doesn't seem to be disappearing from stores as Winter approaches this year! Black & grey year after year gets incredibly boring, and I for one, am embracing the multitude of colours & prints gracing Winter clothing this year. First on my list to accquire is a pair of mustard/yellow pants. Obviously, a mustard beanie & mustard coloured tights just aren't enough. Runners up in the colour/print race include floral pants, leopard print, jewel tones, red & anything in a rusty-orange colour.
Winter Wishlist: Beanies Galore

Oh, I'm so glad that I finally got my beanie collection out of storage! Beanies & knitted hats are probably my no-shopping kryptonite. I can never resist an adorable knit hat, no matter how large my collection is. I swear that they are also capable of multiplying - I give them away, and somehow the amount that I have never seems to decrease. I don't mind too much though, because I tend to wear beanies with everything, all of the time, until the middle of Summer when I risk dying of heatstroke if I wear them. Is it possible to have too many beanies? My answer is a resounding no.

Also, if it's not to much to ask, I'd love this pair to serenade me for the whole duration of Winter.

What's on your Winter wishlist this year?

Until next time, xo.

It's Getting Hot in Here...

Hey lovelies,

For the first time ever (or, you know, in a really long time)I feel like I'm actually looking forward to Summer. I know right? How crazy. There must be something in the air that is making me long for shorts & sandals weather. I suppose it probably doesn't help that work is already stocking Summer clothing, and fashion magazines are starting to run their Spring/Summer fashion shoots. Mostly, I'm looking forward to pushing out of my comfort zone when it comes to my own Summer style. I'm looking forward to so many things...

Mix and Maxi

Make up in amazing colours to astound the eye. Layers of chains, pendants and sea creature detail. Cutting off an old pair of jeans to make shorts. Dousing things in bleach to make interesting patterns. Bikinis in every style and colour, and damn those people who say I can't wear one.

Crazy ColoursFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

Owning my first pair of Doc Martens, and pairing them with cutesy thigh-high socks. Shorts, shorts and more shorts. Bright colours that I wouldn't normally be drawn to. Shredding old t-shirts, and wearing all your favourite t-shirts again (then cutting them up and making them into new favourites). Caps that might not look pretty, but will keep my hair out of my eyes as I run along the beach.

And, what about you guys? Whether you're going into Summer or Winter, are you looking forward to the change in seasons? Are there any new facets to your style that you want to play with in the upcoming season? Do you have a favourite season (mine is still Winter by the way)?

Until next time, xo.

Bring On The Freeze!

Hello there lovelies!

While all of you in the Northern Hemisphere are eagerly awaiting Spring/Summer, and hot sunny days, I'm counting down until the first days of Winter. I'll probably cheer with joy as soon as it's cold enough for me to wear a hoodie or a jacket outside of an overly airconditioned building. I dislike Summer. Actually, I detest, loathe and abhore Summer. Sweat, terrible BO, suburn and chafing? No thanks, I'll take curling up under a blanket in a big jumper and thick socks any day. Maybe this is just because in Queensland, Australia Winter is something of a novelty. I'm not kidding, it didn't even really get cold enough for me to wear a coat last Winter. Light cardigan weather was about as cold as it got. I'm crossing my fingers for a cold one this year! Here's a little something for the other Winter-lovers out there - some inspiration/fashion porn for you, hehe.

Ring Woman
Ring Woman by Miss Peregrin featuring Precis Petite pants

I loooove this jacket and boots.. And for those of you practicing radical self love this month, I thought this t-shirt was perfect. Also, I need a ring that says "fuck you".

Red Queen

Something for the less casual folks. This is the raddest 'effing skirt I've ever seen.

Neon & Knit

This is exactly the look I want to be rocking this winter - slouchy knitwear, studded motorcycle boots and a hint of neon. Awesome.

Winter Punk

Shorts with stockings - shall I go there? We'll have to wait and see. I think this would be a nice comfy, but warm combination though.

Any other Winter-lovers out there dying for a little bit of chill? I'm right there with you.

Until next time, xo.

A Little Summer Inspiration...

Hello there lovelies!

My fellow Australians will most probably feel my pain when I say it's really starting to heat up down here in the Southern Hemisphere. Now, my main problem with this is that I find it hard to keep my style interesting once it starts getting hot. It's far too tempting to sit around the house, under a fan in shorts and a ratty old singlet. Especially when we have horrible days like today where the temperature reaches 41 degrees celsius! So, just in case there are others out there in the same dilemma, I put my brain and Polyvore into a blender and came up with some quirky options for keeping cool in the Summer. Readers, meet the products of my poor, possibly heat-stroke afflicted brain - my inspiration for cool Summer style:

Tomboy

For those who, like me, haven't grown out of wearing hats with animal ears.

Who the?

Why have only one crazy element to your outfit, when you can have many? I'm in love with those shoes.

Little Bit of Turquoise

Oh crazy hats, I just can't get enough of you.

Where The Wild Things Are

I can always use more neon colours in my life. And shoes that say "sex".

Black Widow

Ok, so maybe this one had less to do with Summer, and more to do with me thinking that the bird-skull ring is total Black Widow material. Awesome.

And there you have it! These are the kinds of thing running through my head this Summer. What is running through yours? Don't hesitate to share if you're currently in the midst of Winter right now. I may be jealous, but I love Winter fashion inspiration far more than it's Summer cousin. Share and share alike! What is filling your current style musings?

Until next time, xo.

Gratuitous Looklet Day!

Hello lovelies,

It's a fact, I'm completely obsessed with Looklet. Here's the hard evidence, see for yourself:

So, (for those of you who are into this kind of thing), what do you think of Looklet? Better than Polyvore? Flash in the pan? I'd be interested to hear some opinions apart from my own!
Until next time, xo.

Calling All Polyvore Enthusiasts!

Hello there lovelies!

Now, if any of you are like me, and completely obsessed with Polyvore, I've got big news for you. There's yet another website where we can now waste our time/procrastinate by making lots of crazy outfits. Only this one lets you put them on actual people! Well you know, assuming that actual people are tall, skinny and perfectly proportioned. Anyway, it lets you put the clothes on mannequins with faces at the least. Welcome to Looklet! (I know I know, I'm far too excited about a website that lets me dress people up.)

It's a pretty sweet set up - you can choose between different models and backgrounds, put different faces on the models, and have a bit of flexibility in the way that items are worn. You can put jackets on your models open, or buttoned up, put boots over or under the jeans and a whole lot of cool shit like that. It gives you a great deal of versatility to design outfits, and see how they might look when they're being worn.

On the "con" side of things, Looklet does have far less items to choose from than Polyvore. But, they are a newer website and seem to be updating their selection fairly often, so this may change in the future. I also think they could do with having more diverse models to choose from - perhaps an option to change their size/body shape? - as putting clothes on these girls will really give me no idea how they'll look on me, as my body shape is completely different.

Still, despite these drawbacks I've still spent an entire morning on this website. If you check it out, you can find me here.

Until next time, xo.

What I Wore Today, Volume Four + What I Wish I Wore Today

Hello beautiful world!

I bought a new pair of pants, thus the "It's like Scene, but cooler" outfit was born. These pants are amazing. You may not be able to see very well in the pictures, but they are patterned in a very similar fashion to those antique couches everyone's Grandma seems to have. A very subtle way to create interest in an otherwise typical pair of black skinny cut pants. I bought them from my work - brand is The Doll Boutique. Since my last few picture posts have been in my boring old bedroom and loungeroom, I decided to venture outside. Taking photographs in the outside world is much more fun than in the loungeroom, let me tell you. Even if you are like me, and end up throwing off your shoes in the first few seconds and running around barefoot.

Outfit Rundown:
Hat: Emily The Strange (Hit N Run), $10.00
T-shirt: Now (Kmart), $7.00
Pants: The Doll Boutique (Trade Secret), $29.95
Boots: (Barely worn) Target, $39.99

Annnd, this is what I wish I had worn today. There's just something about the combination of purple and leopard print. Or maybe that's just me. I'd explain the "I eat babies" text, but I really can't. Perhaps, because that's how fierce I'd look wearing these digs? I know, weak explanation.
I eat babies.

Ah, Polyvore. How I do love thee.

Until next time, xo.

Polyvore Madness!

Hello lovelies,

Basically it was grey, rainy and dreary all day today so I didn't get to take any good photos of what I was wearing. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the rain because it makes good weather for snuggling up on the couch watching movies, snuggling up in bed (and doing other things, heh) and letting your imagination run wild on Polyvore!

Here's what I've come up with so far.

Punk for the Upper Class?
Punk for the Upper Class? by Miss Peregrin featuring Jimmy Choo shoes

This is pretty much what I wish I was wearing today. The boots themselves are over $1000 though, so it's totally not going to happen on my current student budget. How much do research psychologists make again? I'm also rather tempted to go out and buy a pair of white jeans, then turn them into these jeans. Maybe I will, and then I'll put the results of my little escapade up here.

Perfect Outfit for a dreary day...
Perfect Outfit for a dreary day... by Miss Peregrin featuring DKNY

A little more colourful than my usual efforts, no? I don't know what it is, but the cold dreary weather has me feeling like wearing rainbows. Luckily for me, I have a really cute rainbow scarf and beanie set in real life, which is what prevents me from running out and buying these things. Well, that and the lack of funds. But you know, since when has that stopped someone?

If anyone's out there, what have you created on Polyvore? If you've never been to the site, you should go create something and post the results here.

Until next time, xo.
