Mighty Mouse + Bird Peterson + Ocelot + Perfume

Yes, yes, yes! I ordered an iPod yesterday. Which means I can finally ride the train again. And drown out the sound of brutality with noises by Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and Robyn and The Human League and Depeche Mode and Yazoo and MMG and whatever else. Because as tite as interacting IRL with friends can be, listening to strangers blah, blah, blah about this, that, and the other is so indisputably the worst thing ever. I just think people in general are super overrated, and hearing them exist is the ultimate struggle. So yea, I'm super hype on this whole iPod thing.

Was posted up at the bar around the corner from my spot last night. Yapping about a bunch of cheesy songs I play at one of my residencies. And NSR's all, "Blah, blah, blah, you're a Bar Mitzvah DJ, blah, blah, etc." And so naturally I just kept talking about my cheese and he did this thing he does where he rolls his eyes because he can't deal with what a cheesy turd he's hanging out with. Anyways. The gal DJing played an Avril Lavigne song. And I kinda got pretty super excited. But I'm all, "Chill, self. Or Noah's gonna make fun of you again, and that'd totally suck." So I got to thinking. Like. How long do I have to wait for an official compilation of Avril Lavigne's greatest hits?

Related: I really wanna go to the Warped Tour this summer. So if you're friends with me, live in NYC, and read this blog, please consider hanging out with thousands of 16-year-olds and me for a day. I'm looking at you, Noah. Miles and Drew. Kinney. Etc.

Bit Funk + Bird Peterson

Half a year or so ago. My old friend Mikey Rodge hits me up all, "Blah, blah, yo, you know any NYC kids that would wanna DJ one my SXSW parties?" And I'm all, "Blah, blah, yea, lemme ask around." So I hit up the dude Free Magic and he's all, "Blah, blah, absolutely, this is a go. But blah, blah, blah, would you be keen on having my boy Bit Funk spin as well?" And Mikey and I were all, "Blah, blah, hell yes, let's do the gosh darned thing!"

Anyways. I've been a big fan of Bit Funk's work ever since. I mean I was most certainly a fan before. But now? Now things have quite simply spiraled out of control. Fan boy status. Etc. And the gent just released yet another quality track. And this time? This time it's available as a free download. Things could certainly be worse. Oh. And did I even mention that the song's a total banger? All foxy and funky and fun and etc. Played it last Saturday. Played it Wednesday. Played it Thursday. And again at my second Thursday gig. So necessary. Go to Bit Funk's SoundCloud page to download the track for free through MediaFire.

On an entirely different note. Bird Peterson. I opened for the dude up at Dartmouth a couple of years ago. And honestly? He's kind of legendary. Not that I didn't expect it. I mean his production? So ticey. That Ocelot remix? Those Wu-Tang remixes? All of the old B-More remixes? God, yes please. But yo, I didn't realize just how hard dude went in on his sets until I saw him DJ for the first time that night. Um, yea. Anywho, peep Drankenstein 2 below. It's kind of LVLz.

Round Table Knights + Ocelot + Bird Peterson + Mowgli

I was getting sick of all the hype surrounding Round Table Knights' upcoming single, "Calypso." Though I've always enjoyed their mixes and play out the Mowgli remix of "Belly Dancer" on the regular, I couldn't be convinced to so much as preview "Calypso" on the Knights' MySpace page. Big mistake. After watching the video teaser for the E.P. I'm convinced I'll love each and every cut on the release. Made to Play is quickly becoming one of my favorite - if not my single favorite - label in the game. I've been sleeping, but at least I'm on board now.

In other news, I may or may not be DJing a rave in a couple of days. Or a week. Or something. And not a proper warehouse-style rave or anything of the sort, but rather a college-kids-embracing-their-inner-house-and-electro-style rave. If that makes any sense, which it most likely doesn't. Anywho, I'm absolutely tickled every time I think of dropping Bird Peterson's remix of Ocelot's "Our Time" at the aforementioned hypothetical gig. Of course I'm also envisioning my hair looking something like DJ Pauly D's and Snooki doing the splits on the dance floor. Hey, a guy can dream, no?
